2006 Lancer ES - died while in motion
Hey everyone,
Last night my Lancer (130K miles - no major issues, outside of a new clutch), died on me while I was driving home.
It cranks - but I get no fuel. Witnessed by the fact that while cranking, if I try to give it gas it does absolutely nothing.
Now I've read that in the lancer the fuel filter is contained in the fuel pump and that I need to replace the whole fuel pump.
So first - does it sound like a fuel filter/pump issue?
Second - my car doesn't have the manual anymore so I'm not sure about parts/location of the fuel filter/pump. Can anyone help me there?

Yeah be sure to check the timing belt real quick.
The fuel pump is located under the rear seat. Pull on the far left AND right edges to pull it up. Next take the 4 phillips head screws out of the black cover. Then take off the 6-8 bolts (8mm I think?) holding the fuel pump in. You may want to take some time to clean the dirt and debris around the bolts before lifting the fuel pump assembly out. BE SURE TO PULL THE POWER SUPPLY ON THE FUEL PUMP AND START YOUR CAR TO RELIEVE ANY PRESSURE THAT MIGHT BE IN THE LINE. There maybe no pressure but its best to do it anyway. Then just take the pump out and replace it. Pulling the tabs holding the fuel pressure line in can be a bit tough. It was a bit tough for me. LOL I hope that helps.
