03 Lancer has NO.... I mean NO POWER when on pedal
03 lancer 2.0L manual trans, has no power when on the pedal, gains speed at snail pace. When taking off its almost like im in 5th gear, i mean it almost dies.... Ive let other people drive it to make sure its not how I drive but they say its a dog! vacuum is at 16in when idle, spark plugs are new and are at the right gap, air filter is clean, I swapped the maf with another lancer and nothing changed. it also wont idle right so i removed the iacv and cleaned it, nothing changed. i even replaced the lower catalytic converter thinking it was clogged and nothing changed. also my fuel economy sucks a big ole dong. somebody help ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many miles on the car? So I'm guessing it feels like half your motor is missing right?
I'd start by pulling one connection at a time. If there's no change, there's your answer. Possible that several are bad. Also... how about your coil packs? Have you checked or replaced those?
180k on the car, the coils didn't look horrible so i didnt replace them. When you say start pulling connection do you mean pulling injector connectors and if there's no change then I know it's an injector
ok ill give that a try, also I was thinking could part of the problem be the fuel pressure regulator? I havent checked the fuel pressure yet but i was just curious about it? also could you explain how a bad coil pack could cause this problem, im not doubting im just wondering? Like a short in the coil?
Changed the coils and no change, but i did check the fuel pressure and this came out of the bleed off tube! Ide say this isnt right, did i mention this car had sat for awhile before I bought it!
I emptied all the old fuel and put in new and it still doesn't get out of its own way. I wondered if it could be bad injectors? I need to mention that when driving at about 40 it kinda jerks forward a little bit, could it be a clogged injector that will come aunclogged a little bit at a time?
So I pulled the plugs out to do a compression check and found that two plugs were as clean as the day I put them in ther, so I started looking at the ignition, come to find out that the coil and wire for cylinder 2&3 was not firing. I had power and ground at the plug for the coil but no signal, after some Internet reserch I found that signal wire at the ecu and measured resisted, it was out of limits, I over layed and wire and it fired right up and purred like a kitten!
