Looking for ideas on why my Lancer won't crank. Son drove it to school and parked it, got back in after and tried to start it...nothing. I checked a couple of things:
-Battery - good
-Starter - good (ran power to it and it came alive)...don't see power getting to the starter when trying to start normally (voltage meter check)
-Checked ignition switch, works on all three positions
- Checked starter fuses and replaced relay
- Unplugged the clutch switch (heard it disables it) and still no go.
- See the intake valve move and it slightly clicks when trying to start the car,but that is the only noise the car makes.
- Radio and power in the cab appear to be fine.
- previous owner had a talon gps s3000-s with optional starter relay installed.
- I removed it....after this problem occurred to make sure it wasn't the cause.
any help appreciated.....about as far as I know to go right now.
Adding the Talon wiring diagram....this is how it was wired (no buzzer), although it looked pretty shoddy. I just removed the Talon and the Relay sock, and plugged the wires back to gether down by the starter..where the relay and socket were:
This is where people were having intermittent issues but when it didn't work it sounded like the same symptom i have...he was able to trace back to the switch, which appeared good. The example here was to remove it and hold in hand to verify...I have done that several times, and it never starts on my car.
