Just new here. have no one to ask that could give me specific answer.

I bought a Lancer 2003 with CVT trans. First issue is delayed acceleration and no power uphill. I floored gas pedal and it takes seconds before it picks up speed. Second problem it doesnt change gear. ATF has been changed. Been to a mechanic and he seemed not sure what the problem is. I hope I could get a help through this forum.

CVT's don't shift...the fact that it's gutless doesn't surprise me...but the band/belt could be slipping...

 

Thanks! I understand CVT's run smoothly that you don't feel its changing gears. but I am sure that I am stuck with first gear since I hear the engine roar and RPM sky rockets without speeding up.

N light flashes while on D. Diagnosed and found 1st gear and 2nd gear faults on the transmission. It also showed about ATF temperature fault.

Havent check the belts but I see vibration on the pulleys.

 

I'm not an expert on CVT's but it sounds like slipping, and if there are faults, then that's a dead giveaway...I would inspect the oil for quantity and condition...not too sure about the gearing faults, but it could be related to the abnormal oil condition.
