apex vafc or safc specs
apex vafc or safc specs
i have all kinds of mods on my car including a apex vafc modgel i had it set ok but now that i just put a intake manifold and a cold air intake a header and a test pipe so now its all messed up again i was just wondering if there was anyone who has the same mods on there car and had their apex set perfectly if they wouldnt mind sharing some specs. i have a full explaination of all my mods in my profile if needed.
thanks yall
thanks yall
u have the vafc?
how does that work on ur lancer? i thought v-afc was for Honda Vtec cars...hence the V...did it really work? i heard people couldn't get the s-afc to work on our car unless we cut our o2 sensor wire...interesting...
to add to his questions...are the v-afc and s-afc settings similar...like if i had his mods and had the same settings on an s-afc would they make the same changes? cuz i have an intake/axleback exhaust but will soon have headers and hi-flo cat and cat-back piping...prolly 2.5" and wondering if they were the same so i could lightly tune my car for either better gas mileage or performance

yes the vafc is the same exact thing as the safc except with the vafc you can control the vetec function that is why a lot of people use it on the honda crap. all you do is not connect the vetec wiring and it works fine and as far as cutting the o2 sencer wire thats a lie all you do is get a copy of the ecm "engine control unit wiring harness and connectors diagran and find a few sencer input wires and then just tap into them soddering all connections and it works great you can ad or take away fuel which in my case i needed to add so much fuel that it threw a lean code and turned on my check engine light. and now after all the new mods i did it came back on and instead of spending a month tunning it back i was hopeing that someone had the specs if you need any advice about a lot of things just let me know im a auto technition and i can tell you how to do just about anything on your lancer.
i'm interested in what you've done as far as fuel mods. it seems that the stock lancer ecu has a glass ceiling as far as adding fuel via vafc is concerned. even though you put +30% it'll be just like +4% because of the glass ceiling. back to real numbers, you can't add correction to a stock fuel system. only subtract/lean out.
EDIT: i've got an safc, too. but i don't have similar mods to give my settings that would work for you(or at least i don't think).

there is room for slight modafacation in fuel with the stock fuel system i know for a fact as i said above i was running too lean with my cold air induction system so i went to the local performance shop and the hoocked me up with a vafc cuz the didnt have any safc in stock at the time and as i tuned it over the next couple days i got it to tune up and the light went off. and i cleared the codes out with a scan tool and the air to fuel ratio was close enough to stock to keep the check engin light off. and it stayed off for 3 months till i put all this new stuff on it and it threw a code again im prety sure its a lean code again also ive noticed that at 3400 rpm i get a hesitation then back to going not positive but i think its because of the lean code or check engine light being on
if you're just tuning to get the light to turn off, you're on the brink of the 10% lean condition in terms of LTFT. i had my car tuned enough to get the light to turn off. when i got my scan tool, i found out i was at 12.6% lean, which is pretty lean in terms of ecu tolerance. you would have to add at the very least +7% to maybe get you to 5-6% LTFT. back to the "glass ceiling" thing, hopefully you still got enough adjustment to bring your LTFT back up.
as for the slight hesitation, there's a dip in torque at 4k. check the dyno sheets in the lancer tech forums.
