Platform sharing instead of original ingenuity.

Looks like they are following in the steps of Toyota and the new 2020 BMW Zupra. Let's use this manufacturer's platform since we can't design our own anymore. Welcome to the modern automotive world. I was sure they were going to do the same exact thing they did with the new "eclipse" cross (WTF!) Imagine the cost of parts and services if they use a NON US platform for a US spec "EVO". I don't recall seeing Megane's being sold in the US. So now they are going to have to import parts and equipment so the "Megane" platform can be repaired/serviced. Because of that, costs will go up. I think it will be up there with the Zupra in price. I guess we'll have to see how this goes, but already I see it less of a true EVO with the direction they are going. It may be successful with the newer generation, but us true EVO enthusiasts may see this as a further step away from the iconic EVO 7,8,9.

That's assuming they even sell it here in the U.S. though.

Thank you Masuko-san! Bringing back the Evo 11 into motorsports (hopefully rally, still) and into worldwide release (incl US) would be a really wise decision imo. Just hope they can also get their design team away from whatever ugliness they're doing now and back into drawing clean lines.

No foolsies, I would like an Evo to be the first brand spanking new car I ever bought so this is really good news to me. Plus the Euro influence might mean a more posh interior? Not that I care much about that but it would help sales.

By 2021, I'll almost be able to buy an R34... only a few more years. New cars are so disappointing to me, the decision would be easy to say "no".

It's either save a ton of money in R&D/etc and have a new Evo or not have one. Mitsu isn't doing so hot and this is the most effective way to roll the car out, again.

A $50k Evo is a lot easier to finance than a $100k car imported from Japan.

P.S. I'm also hoping to see the hatchback.

Money isn't the issue- it's finding a product that I want. New cars make me sick. If I wanted a computer with wheels- I'd put wheels on my computer.

I completely agree. Though the R34 is my all-time fave car EVER, I can't justify the prices they are going for now, much less when they can be imported. I realize there weren't many built, which is a damned shame... but I'm not paying six figures for it. My common sense alarm just goes off way too loud If I ever found one in the $60-65k range, I'd be all over it. When we can get them, I mean. Not buy one now and let it sit in Japan for 5yrs LOL.

I am at a point in my life where I have money, but no happiness. There are 2 things I want to do before I die.
1- own and build an R34
2- own and build/maintain/drive a historic (80s & 90s) indycar. (you'd be surprised at how cheaply these are actually)

What is holding me back now is my lack of talent. I can't fabricate & build as well as I need to achieve these goals. Keeping my money in the bank does not make me happy- so the price is somewhat unimportant.

I was just having this conversation the other day. I have a friend who makes good money, but never spends any. Save, save, save. I make quite a bit less, but spend, spend, spend (after paying into retirement, blah blah). I can't take it with me. I've seen quite a few people, recently, that are basically on their death beds for one reason or another, and tens of thousands of dollars squirreled away. F that. I didn't go to school and get my job just so I can not enjoy life. I'm not getting any younger, either. I have to have fun now.
I'm in the middle of trying to drop $40k on a 50yr old car... so I get money not being an object. I guess it's relative to income. I make less than $100k/yr, so I can't bring myself to spend that much on a car. Believe me... I really, really, really thought about it LOL. I'd sell the Evo for one... but that still leaves $85k That's a damned year's salary for a CAR. haha.

How on earth are you into cars, tracking them and are able to live in California making $85,000 a year? I know you live in Fresno, but still...

Funny when i hear people talk like this, in Canada access and rarity of the ix is almost the same as the gtr as it was never offered here. Both vehicles are my all time favourites and when i was looking to purchase my evo 9, the r34 was my other option but i too couldn't justify the cost. For the same money i could modify the evo to outperform the gtr, also helped that i aesthetically preferred the ix (subjective of course).

People who own their evos now don't see it but mark my words and this post will be here to prove it, in another 10-20 years we will likely see close to gtr prices for an evo ix...now when it come to these new "performance" cars...ugh gross could never drop that amount for these hideous whales at least with a r34 you can justify cost because you are getting a truly unique piece of history, I also think they should be priced this way for preservation, if they were affordable then they would eventually become extinct from careless wanna be paul walker owners.

I have no doubt. I love my Evo but would never pay today's prices, much less tomorrow's. I'll probably keep mine until it dies, unless someone offers me $20K : lol:
