Drove a 04 S2000 yesterday
So a guy at work got a new S2000 and i was like "gimme a ride or give me the keys"
so he throws me the keys, i put the top down and off i go.
this isn't an extensive review...but i am going to expalin a couple important things that stood out to me.
First is the engine start button...yes, i know everyone knows about this and it's nothing new...but it's just so damn fun to push.
next, the shifter is awesome...very short shift in perfect placement of eachother and for some reason i have always loved the S2000 steering wheel. it's so small it feels like you're in a go kart.
The handling was very good, as to be expected...
but what stood out the most...the 2.2 really is much better than the old 2.0. it had more torque in the lower RPMs than the old car and to me seemed much easier to drive in stop and go traffic.
Still the car is not fast by any means...i have never understood the hype on these cars being "fast" but according to many people, they are. The car is lots of fun to drive...it handles well...but they do not accererate.
I think if someone put a 4G63 in an S2000 you would have an instant legend.

it was either the evo or the 04 s2k when i was ready to buy.. i loved the s2k, but i really never experienced a 2 seater convertible before nor a sedan... i was gonna try the sedan first and i'm happy i did
nothing wrong with the s2k... just 2 totally different cars
2 seater convertible and high quality or 4 door and rally based

Of course the Evo is faster than the S2000, it has ~35 more hp (stock) and gobs more torque... but you can't put the top down

Rez90 is dead on about the improved 2.2L (I had an '01 S2K before). The only disagreement is about the speed. I took my buddy to school in his stock Evo with my '04 S2000 on the freeway. My modded Evo is still much faster than the S2000, but the S2K is still no slouch.
