Will Mazdaspeed6 trump Evo, STi, and R32

The 06 Mazdaspeed 6 in the summer of 05 is looking pretty hot.

274hp, 280 ft lbs, 2.3L Turbo, All wheel drive with active torque splitting, 18inch rims, 6 speed, looks like it will *offer* *optional* luxury items like navigation system, cruise, leather, etc.

Damn that was mostly a commercial with no real hardcore specs. Sounds like it will be a "nice" car.

No, it will not trump the Evo. Weight will be up and so will the price. This will be along the lines of the R32. Looks good, lots of goodies, but it won't offer the raw performance of the Evo at the same price point.

That said... I love this car. The more competition, the better for us! Now if Mazda would take this to the WRC...

Sounds like a great alternative for Subaru Legacy buyers.
I can't wait for this to turn into the "6 OWNZ MR" forum before the car even hits the market.

Nice vehicle, should be awesome, but nobody, not even Mazda is claiming it as an EVO or STI killer, totally different class. The Mazda while powerful is going to be targeted at the Subaru Legacy GT.

That car is going to be nice Ill say that, I don't think it will trump the Evo, but it will be some new competition, i don't think it will be the last either...There is going to be alot of car companies jumping on the turbo awd 4 banger bandwagon soon- i would put alot of $ on that!

Mazda tends to put it's "MazdaSpeed" vehicles on the performance edge like Mitsu's Ralliart/Evo lineup and Subaru's STi group, Ford's SVT group, etc. It will be interesting to see how things shape up for it.

Performance may be decent, but isn't the vast majority of this car built in the US and Mexico? That alone would worry me. If that is the case, I'll stay with a higher quality Japan build - Like an Evo : )

Well the bottom line is that Sti's and Evo's are rally based tourqy cars that will pull higher numbers than your normal sports car, whats the next car that can do a 0-60 in under 5 sec?? 1/4 mile in 13.4 or less?? look at how much more you would be spending, Z06, M3, ect. I dont' think Mazda will compete in number with our cars
