Just test drove an STI,Thoughts v.s. EVO

I test drove both cars. But last night was the first time I drove an STI. Heres my review. The STI feels completely different, feels heavier. I like how the STI drove better overall. I felt like driving a base Ford F-150 XL pick-up when I drove the EVO b/c there is NOTHING THERE. 3 knobs for climate, a little radio and thats it. The EVO really lacks a lot when it comes to interior. I will say this tho, THE EVO is a much easier car to drive and the controls are easier to understand. I still dont understand the whole RPM adjustment that the STI offers and how to work the DCCD or what it even is?? The EVO has the ACD which is EASY to use and then the STI has the little lights that move from up and down when yu adjust the Differential I guess, Can someone explain how that works and also the RPM adjustment. When I got back from the test drive, I was pulling left into a spot and the wheels/cars all starting shaking very bad. The salesman said its b/c the RPM adjusment was a (0) and the differential wasnt set properly??!?!?!?! Does that make sense, I still have no clue what it means. I hate the fact that there is NO leather and NO sunroof. Overall, I still kinda like EVO better but im goin out to look at both again, STI definetly offers more for the money as far as safety, features, contols, power....etc

STI:
Pros: Better interior, more contols/functions, exterior back looks nicer, nice suede seats, boxer engine sound, MORE LIGHTS!!!!!! window switches/glove compartment, IC misters, 6spd, Auto climate control

Cons: NO leather, NO Sunroof, confusing controls, front looks like CRAP, NO FOGS, NO rear wiper,

Good. You just discovered the Evo isn't the right car for you. Enjoy your STi.

It makes me laugh how people hark on about interior and the way people talk you would think the STi has the most luxurious interior on the planet. If interior is such a big issue then you're looking at the wrong cars. I'm glad Mitsu spent the money on power and handling instead of a walnut dash. You won't be happy with an Evo, and probably not with an STi either. Maybe you should look at a G35.

maybe you should just get a JAGUAR, so you can enjoy the luxury. I don't think these 2 cars is for you since you like luxury. Don't waste your time to test drive

Sounds like you should test drive the Legacy 2.5 GT instead, turbo awd with all the luxery amenities you want.

Your sales man is full of it. The RPM adjustment is for the shift light and shift beep. For example, put it on 6000 rpm, and the shift light and shift beep will come on everytime you hit 6000 rpm.

Your car was shaking really bad is probably because you put DCCD to the Lock position, you're only suppose use Lock on very slippery surface like snow or ice.

Honestly I don't really like the interior of ther STI at all. I like the simplicity of the Evo. Can not stand the baby blue interior or the big hood scoop in front of you while driving the STI.

I thik the rear exterior of the Evo is beautiful. The Subaru is really ugly in the rear.

I thought we chose our cars for the out-of-the-box performance not the interior - we all know the Evo (and STI) are spartan inside - and future tuning potential. That's why I bought the Evo over the STI and every other car I short listed.

Glad you could rationalize the cars on your terms tho.

I'll be using this as an everyday car so I would like to have overall a little bit of everything. STI doesnt even have any luxury features, it just offers more interior wise.

I dont like Legacy. Its either EVO or STI, but I still like EVO more.

So if i set it at 6000rpm and when I reach 6k, It will beep and light? can I go over 6000 if it set it at 6000? Whats the point of this? Whats the highest it will go?

Does EVO have the diferential lock? When it comes to differentials and other components, who has more offerings EVO or STI? as far as center diff, LSD, rear diff...etc

I didnt even mention suspension anywhere, The difference between EVO and STI suspension isnt a whole lot. Its all in the same ballpark

if you are not a big fun to modify the car,
and you test drive both, you should pick the one you like more.
good luck!
