A Corvette that you don't want to mess with

That particular car uses drag slicks for those times. That is most certainly not on street tires.
And if the only thing you can come up with is "auto is gay", a lot of drag cars are auto and will shift faster than you can blink.

The new super tuner challenge in C&D has a lingefelter corvette. It quotes 800hp and 830 ft-lb of torque from a twin-turbo 427. It also has 345/30ZR-19 tires. C&D said an 11.6 second quarter mile at 136 mph, with a 0-60 of 4.1 seconds.
Granted, this is way slow for any modded corvette, so they were having obvious traction problems. But, the car is only RWD and it does way about 3300 lbs., so thats a lot of inertia to overcome. Even if this is slow for a lingenfelter, an 11.6 @136 is a far cry from a high 8 second quarter mile.

Agreed on the tires part. But someone was asking earlier if a RWD car with street tires could run an 8 second quarter mile with 800 hp, and thats clearly not going to happen.
As for the good driver part, either someone from lingenfelter or someone from C&D was driving the car, and I don't think either would be a slouch behing the wheel. The hennessey venom managed an 11.0 sec @ 143 with more or less equivalent power numbers. Even thats not really a good time, though.
I agree the trap speed is ridiculous (just imagine 0-136 in 11.6 seconds, stock evos take longer to get to 100).
Still, the point is the same, IF the lingenfelter at the beginning of the thread is quoting 0-60 mph in less than 2 seconds and and 8.95 second quarter mile on street tires, the owner is full of it.
