I've seen a few videos of that particular LPE TT vette and it definatly had slicks on it. I don't want to image what amount of strain was put on the driveline but dang. it was fast as crap.

I might have been misunderstood so I'll say it again, those times are on slicks. Not street tires.

yeah.. personally not a vet guy.. personally not an auto guy either unless its one of the three b's... a benz, beamer, or bentley... or a nice suv of course.

yes, of course auto can shift quickly, its auto. i dont understand who'd fix the hell out of their automatic car and take it to the track tho... the whole point of the track is for the feel and for the stick shift, in my opinion.

that thing is still sick and i know i'd be staring at it if it rolled by, but for my taste i'd never buy one...

Have you ever seen anyone with an Auto miss a shift at the track??? Theres your answer. Much easier to launch and then all you do is put your foot in it and hold on. Sure, driving stick is fun and all. But, in all seriousness, for straightline races, its not much better. The reason that autos are generally slower in a straightline than a manual is because of the gearing. With less gears, they have to be taller, hurting acceleration. But if you have a Vette with 800+hp, you're not that worried about gearing. Thus, an Auto is just fine for getting down the track real real fast, and very consistently.

it's automatic, disqualified

Autos Are better then Stock. ESPECIALLY in a High Torque and boost application. You never Lift to Shift, turbos ALWAYS spooled, more consistant. And if the Auto is built right, it'll be faster then the Stick.

oh, i definitely agree with you there. all you gotta do it hold the break, gas it, then release the brake. in my opinion, any automatic car will smoke a stick shift from the stop.

however, stating auto is better than stick is not a good statement. i was merely expressing my opinion and taste when it comes to the track or ANY fixed up car in that respect.

like i said, i used to own many automatic cars. come to think of it, this is my first stick shift. the reason it's my first stick shift is because it's a performance car. my older c class benzo wasn't. as much as i'd like it to be considering i had some nice wheels and a system on that thing, it'll never be. when i see automatic beamers with exhaust and the works, i cackle.

basically, choose one or the other, in my opinion, unless you're able to do both. hmm... now that i think about it, the corvette is allowed to do both that was a horrible statement by myself for i was immediately thinking EvoM and track.

Apologies.

yes, yes, apologies. auto is obviously much quicker since you don't have to worry about shifting. there are only a few cars allowed to do both auto and modifications, the vette being one of them please forgive me!

I wasn't trying to be a dick, I hope you realize that. I was just saying, if all you want is to go real fast in a straight line, an auto is a good choice. I can't tell you how many times I've missed 3rd in my Talon, ruining that run. With an auto, you just load up the converter, and let it rip with your foot to the floor for 1320 ft. Anyone whos seen those videos floating around with that E55 racing that Cobra has a good visual about how fast and consistent autos are. Takes a little fun out of it, but if all you want is consistent and reliable #s, it works well.
