I dynoed at 322 WHP before cams, and with cams now I've been taking all stock ones and a most BPU ones.

If anyone's read something that a stock EVO can hang, it's wrong. A stock EVO or anything pretty close to a stock EVO, would be owned by stock Cobras, especially on a roll. All depending on the Cobra's driver of course.

This is going to sound bad but I think a cobra should own then evo in a drag race. There two diffrent types of cars cobra being muscle dragger and evo being track turn hungry.... well monster. But to answer your question a vishnu stage one sig will do it. Trust me I know

300-325 whp is what you need to beat in th 1/4

350+whp on a roll

This of course is in a stock 03+ cobra
Okay......but hom many 03-04 Cobras you run into that aren't modded? I had one before my Evo and it put down 390 whp stock. My Evo feels nothing close to that and I have full exhaust, intake, mbc, fuel pump, and Dynoflash. I have 264's going in Monday and a custom street tune next Sat. from DynoFLash and I still don't think my Evo will measure up to what my stock Cobra was. I guess only time will tell. I'll let you know in about a week.

i think the v stage one will do it. i run with a regular cobra at the 1/4 mile and only beat it by a half of car .but remember both cars are stock.i did feel good beating a cobra even dough it wasnt the svt.

Don't get me wrong those Cobras are beast, especially from a roll. But the differences are not as great as one would suspect from a Supercharged 8 Cylinder. With Vishnu Stage 1 your EVO (if driven correctly) could kill a stock Cobra from a stop and give it a run for it's money from a roll. I mean you may not even need that much, but just to make sure you can hang get Cams, Turboback, ECU Modification, and MBC, that should be enough. Modified Cobras, ah now that is a different story and you may want to look into upgraded turbos. From a dig it is possible to hang with or beat a modified Cobra on the stock turbo, but to hang from a roll I believe you will need a bigger turbo.

The Cams should make a dramatic difference and so should the custom tunning. The EVO is an awesome car, and people ask so much out of it, and over coming a car that puts down 390WHP stock is no small feat, it can and has been done on plenty of ocassions. While over coming a monster like the Cobra is not a small feat, it really isn't that difficult of a feat, the EVO is magic.

The truth is in the 1/4 mile, stock for stock the EVO is toast. Mod for mod the EVO is toast. 03 Cobra weighs ~3660 and puts down ~370rwhp stock. Chip/pulley/exhaust and now there at 450rwhp. Then they get slicks or DR's and with no more 60 advantage, the EVO is once again toast.

I love EVO's but let be real, in the 1/4 the Cobra has much more potential.

I agree but at the 1/4 mile strip a stage 1+ or a Buscher Stage 4 from a dig can give a pullied Cobra with all the bells and whistles(450-470whp) all he can handle. On my 1+ a Cobra owner could not believe that his predater tuned beast on Nittos could not get within 2/10s of my 4 best runs that day. Yeah he was trappin 115-117mph to my 110-111mph but I guess I out drove him or his car had an off day. From a roll game over just look at that trap speed. Those things are beast but if they are not on slicks an Evo with substantially less hp can hang in a 1320.If you have 350 whp to his 450 whp plus you are 500 pnds lighter you are a good launch away from victory. All depends on the driver.

1/4's are def fun, and even though cobras smoke us in them....they still respect teh evo's performance....people always forget the evo is one of THE best cornering track car. MY friends dad has an 11 second 5.0 and he always asks me to drive the EVO...hehe...maybe one day i'll let him.....

Any car with any amount of money will beat the next....it's all about loving what you drive....if you want a ***** to the wall fast drag car...spend 10'gs on a 5.sl0w (hehehaah)

No doubt dude and thats why were talking 1/4 mile and roll-on.

I fully understand that an EVO will be right there with a Cobra on street tires but as soon as the Cobra starts pulling 1.7's on a real tire its all over. I realize you guys want to stick up for your rides, completely understandable. But straightline speed goes to the Cobra. A 470rwhp cobra should be trapping around 118 so thats gonna be tough to beat if we are comparing $ to $ mods. But then again the Cobra does cost 8K more...

Come on if a stock V8 supercharged can't beat a stock Evo than that would be pretty sad. It's twice the engine and guys who buy a SVT Cobra usually mod them too. But, watching SVT Cobra owners wanting to race Evo's now that's priceless. It's like saying Evo owners want to race Honda Civics with all the bolt-ons.
Every car has it's class and Evo's are not in the class of supercharged V8's. Although, we scare the hell out of them since Evo's can whoop em with some serious mods.

I love this post!!!! I've been attacked by more Cobras then you can shake a rench at. I've run nose to nose with a couple Cobras and my EVO is stock. I've ran into a couple that were modded and they pulled pretty good. However, my friends modded WRX pulls harder then most modded Cobras I've run into. True, it doesn't take much out-run one if you have the right mods. Remember, the Cobra is also over 3600lbs... a dissadvantage for the Cobra.
