05 Evo MR vs. C5 Vette

How much $$$ would it take to make a MR faster then an automatic C5 corvette?

faster how: dragstrip, 0-60, or on a road course? On many road courses (that aren't pure power tracks) I'd wager that the EVO is equal to a manual C5 out of the box.

From a stop, not too much... Exhaust, intake, boost control and tuning and you should take him off the line. Add cams and tuning (and good driving) and you should give him a run at speed. Those first mods should get you in the mid to high 12s, which is what a stock Z06 does... Since he's Auto, you'll definitely have to shift perfectly!

Quicker or faster. It is almost a drivers race in the 1320 depending on launching abilities. Get a simple flash and exhaust and the Evo should have no problems with the c-5 vette from a dig. Or go get a stage 1 or 1+ from Vishnu and it is game over. No c-5 autos runnin mid-low 12s and I suspect the MR will have more potential. Cheapest way get AFC,Boost controller,Exhaust, basically a buscher stage 1or 2 and that should also leave a stock c-5 in the dust. too many options and all affordable.

I took one and I just have exhaust and Intercooler plumbing. It was off a light into a turn onto a highway I took him all the way from the launch to the turns and then power out of the turn and pulled on him. He had exhaust at the least. I was quite impressed with my 4banger.

The race track has a highway on-ramp on it. That's awesome!

I have 300whp and I must say a Z06 can pull from me quite easily on the hwy. But the Z06 owner claims EVOs with cams (in addition to the basic bolt ons)can keep up with him.

that's why i got this 4 banger. the fact that we can even discuss beating a $45000 V8 muscle car is amazing.

I cant say that I would even come close to a Z06. Maybe in a few thousand $$.

This race track is very high tech.

I thought the C5 Z06 came only in manual? This is the one rated at high 12's stock at 405 hp.

The automatic vette is either the base or convertible models which are both rated at a lesser 350 hp. Therefore, I'd assume this does not do high 12's, but perhaps low 13's which is what some bone stock GSR's have pulled off.

As far as the new style C6, these only come in manual, from what I've read.

ive heard that the reg evo VIII can beat a stock C5 (not sure if this was auto or manual) on the drag strip. but i kno it cant beat a z06 stock vs stock. but who cares, the z06 guy is paying uber amounts of money to be a little faster than a 30k car
