Is the EVO the new King?
It's not always about how much power you make, but about how use that power. While I give the Supra mad props for the awesome dyno numbers it can produce, but like I just stated, it's not always just about power, but how you use it.

^^^ well put. IF i had to say i believe the skyline to be king. The r33 and r34 are one of the most desired cars in the sport compact industry. I know when my friends think of sport compact tuning their eyes glaze over with the thought of a gtr-34 vspecII purging the nitrous or a supraTT targa top as it blows by. I love my evo, but I think the "King" wouldnt suit it, to me the evo is more of an underdog overshadowed by the inline 6's. The evo is a great car and can succeed in ANY type of motorsport but it i think it has a long way to go before it is king. If an evo, a supraTT, and a skyling (r33 or r34) were driving along and parked somewhere, the skyline and supra would be the car most want to look at first. I love my evo, but I think it will remain an underdog for now...and thats the way I like it. They'll never know what hit them.

Unless Nissan will bring a thoroughbred Skyline to the United States the Supra TT will always be "king" in my book. But let's face it, the EVO is a sedan. It is not a purebred sports car like the Supra. The fact it outperforms many, many two-door exotics and higher priced coupes is a feat in and of itself. EVO- king of tuner cars.
Supra- king of sports cars.
Supra- king of sports cars.

Exactly. I totally agree with the last 2 posts. Like I said earlier, If all I wanted was a car that would spit out good #'s, I would just drive my Talon forever. But for sheer "Shock and Awe" factor, the Supra TT, and as mentioned, the Skyline GT-R, are the Kings. The Evo will make some great #'s, and get around a track real fast. But, like 02Max said, the Evo is just a sedan. Its a kick *** sedan for sure, and does things sedans just aren't supposed to do, but it will always just be a boxy 4-door. The Supra has the looks to stop traffic, the engine to go REAL fast, will handle very well with some minor mods, and has an interior you can live with and a very nice ride. Whereas, the Evo might get mistaken for a Lancer with a big wing to someone who doesn't know cars. But, when you see a Supra, you know its a sports car.
I think the GT-R is a very close second though. It has the advantage of being AWD, which helps with power delivery. But, the fact that you don't hardly ever see them here in the U.S. drops it off that top spot. People that don't know cars wouldn't know what it was. And, sure it looks ok, but it doesn't have that smooth swoopy shape that screams sports car. Sure, on the exclusivity scale, the GT-R is top dog. But, for a US vehicle, and one that many people will stare and gawk at, its Supra all the way.

In our scene, I would also say the Supra is the best of the sports cars. But, if you're talking about all of the automotive scene as a whole, I would say its either Vette or 911. Both have been around for ages, both are good performance machines, and both have great, distinctive sportscar shapes. I would vote for the 911 out of those 2 though, because of its storied and historic racing heritage, along with the things I just mentioned.

The EVO is king today in the imports. This car is destined to be a classic. Unlike so many other cars I've parted with and today wish I had kept, this one is a keeper. I truly feel that we the current EVO owners have something really special.
The Evo gives me the same kind of feeling I had with my Grand National only better. I don't see myself everywhere I drive. As a matter of fact... I don't see other Evos around here at all. The low numbers sold will help insure its status of *classic* especially if Mitsu moves forward with the rumored changes for the next gen (if there is one).
For those of you that love the Evo and don't have one... FIND A WAY. Look for a used one if you have to but don't miss out! It's good to be the king...

umm a stock R34 vs 911 turbo is a close competition. And considering the R34 costs less, I believe the R34 has the upper hand.
If you're talking about exotics, why aren't you throwing in zonda's, mcClaren, Enzo, and Lambo. You think that the 911 tops all that?

. Anyways, its caring the nissan name. Nissan is not gonna put a pricetag for over 40g's on a car, might aswell call it infinti. Plus, there will be special editions, like: NA/Turbo and possibly a TT model. I remember when the 350z was announced everybody thought it was gonna be an infiniti and cost close 40g's.As long as the GTR holds the nissan name in america, it will be less than 40'gs and more than 33g's.

Its like when GM had the Grand National, and then the Syclone/Typhoon a few years later. They were great machines, but they broke the one cardinal rule at GM. You never trump the king, which is the Vette. Both of those cars were cheaper than a Vette at the time, and were faster to boot. That doesn't sit well with the higher-ups at GM. Thats why they were such limited production cars. I can't see Nissan being any different. You don't work sooo hard to bring the Z back out as your flagship car, just to have another "new" model show up and be better. Just won't happen.
