Anyone know if this engine has any potential? Like say you were to buff up all the internals and drop a GT35R onto it with all the supporting pieces. Think it would hold up? It just seems to me that the extra cyclinder could help the spoolup on a big fat turbo and drop some nice torque numbers too... That and the wife wants a new S40 and I want to "fix" it.

 

I'm looking at trading my evo for an s40 awd t5... drove 1 yesterday... very nice... not TOO much of a sacrafice in power. I think they push like 9-10psi stock.... I think if u went with about 12.5 psi and tuned it with an safc II on a wideband with just simple intake/exhaust mods then u would see sumthin that would actually hang in there with the evo/sti. If u ask me I think the car has alot of potential, but everyone on the volvo forums is a dumbass and is like wtf is a BOV and why do I need one? If u find ne1 who has had ne progress tuning the new s40 let me know im going to order one saturday!!!
