Finally! Automakers are realizing that we want cheap RWD sport coupes. Most FWD sport compacts are limited because of the nature of FWD. RWD = teh win.

I wonder if it will still use the SR20-DET or will we get hosed with the KA24.

Probably neither.

The S15 has one of the best curves in the market, besides the 3rd gen Rx-7's.

There won't be any SR motors for America. Nissan went away from it with the introduction of the new Sentra, and it has a hightech, lightweight block. Besides, who'll be it go against in sales? The RSX's?

Neither. Nissan discontinued support of the RWD SR platform when the S15 went the way of the dodo. Its replacement is the QR engine found in the SE-R Spec V (in FWD guise). This concept picture is the newest, and ugliest, concept picture I've seen.

Nissan has NOT confirmed the rumors of an S16, but given that the S13 was launched in conjunction with the R32, it's possible that the S16 could be in luanch status when the new GT-R hits the showroom. After all, the S chassis has always been the little brother to the R chassis. A lot of people will say that the S has always been more in relation to the Z, but I disagree. The Z32 was designed as nissan's straight line racer, while the R platform was built for road course. The S, R, and Z all share suspension design, and much of their chassis stampings are identical (it's why you can drop things like an RB25DET into an S13, and with a lot of work, an RB26DETT).

Most of the nissan community isn't holding their breath for an S16 platform, but the rumor mill sure is circulating a lot of information right now. Last I heard, if the S16 were scheduled for production, it would get a RWD QR20DE, QR20DET, or a supercharged VQ25DE. No matter what, though, you can expect that the suspension will be shared with the new Z, the new GT-R, and the engine will be primed for making horsepower.

Mazdaspeed Miata. D2C Mustang. Any of your barely above entry level sportscars. Given the number of FWD sports cars in America right now, the S chassis doesn't have many competitors for the RWD niche.

My guess would be that they would use the QR25DE, just like tenkawa suggested.

Man is that thing fugly in it's current guise though.

QR25DE???? the ****ty specv motor? OMG that would be a disgrace to the 240sx. I use to own a specv b4 - and that motor is GARBAGE unless u build it. Very weak internals

It looks like a Scion Tc with the rear end of a G35. C'mon Nissan, get creative.

Hey... I never said it was a great motor, just that they would probably use it, since it's their shiny new corporate 4cyl. The KA24 wasn't exactly the best thing on earth either, why do you think all the serious guys swapped to an SR20?

If I were Nissan, I'd come out with a shorter stroke version of the QR - like a QR20 with a MUCH stronger bottom end, and go forced induction. Who knows though...

It looks like a FWD car. That's my biggest gripe.
