700whp VS. EVO 8
you will probablly need an entirley different car. I love my evo but it is no top speed monster. It is a quick car not so much a fast car(not that 160mph stock is slow).
Get a new vette slap on several G's worth of parts then have a high speed battle. I don't know where you could really battle for a mile though.

most of these will be Heavily modded of course.
You will probably need this too:
The main factor that is keeping the Evo down is the AWD. Since you are racing top end you dont need it.... so....
Make your Evo rear wheel drive and then you should be able to take him.....
the awd just adds weight and saps your power.... an AWD car w/ 700 whp that weighs 3100lbs is going to lose to a RWD car that has 780 whp and weighs 3200 lbs ( i dont know what a supra wieghs).
P.S. the reason that civic won is because its a civic..... they are light weight, front wheel drive (better from a roll) .... so that civic was probably making 550-650 whp but it doesnt matter cause the car only weighs 2500lbs.
RANT RANT RANT.......

There were two recent threads about making an AWD EVO RWD or more RWD based atleast, well talking about the '05 GSRs (i read both threads, nobody flame) why can't anyone launch at AWD then switch to RWD? plokivos mentioned that some auto crossers have a switch that can do that (got any links? I'd love that, i know AWD has better traction n **** but sometimes i just wanna have fun with RWD drifting like crazy) . Maybe that's what you need with more diff. work and a blank cheque.

Here's the kicker.
We were doing 35 mph in a 45 zone. I turned on my right turn indicator so did he. I turned at the street without slowing or braking, so did he. I made the turn, sharp and clean, right lane to right lane. He made the turn, right lane to center divider to the curb back to the center divider he had to be gripping the seat with his butt.
After that he stayed back until I turned off. We are street driving here guys, not street racing. If you wanted a 1/4 car, build the damn thing and leave it at that. If all you want is to beat the Supra on the top end, you need to change your final drive ratio.
Two ways to do that,
Expensive way, change your transmission ratio or the ring/pinions.
Cheaper way, bigger wheel/tire combo.
Sorry for the rant, sometimes I just don't get it.

that story about the supra happens to me quite often in just normal street driving... some clown will be riding my bumper and will come up on a turn (i am going speed limit and the jackass behind me wants to go faster) so i take the turn perfectly clean at good speed, and the guy behind me gets all out of control and has to slam on brakes... and i just laugh
ya i agree with whoa both cars have strengths in different areas granted with enough work done to your car you could probably get him but your evo is built for a dead stop race and the supra has really good top end power
I agree over 1 mile there are a lot of cars that can beat an EVO... IF it's a straightaway. Challenge him to a mile on a racetrack with straights and curves. Both cars will have their strengths and weaknesses. In the meantime, check out this Supra - 180mph 7.9s:
