700whp VS. EVO 8

My supra buddy is telling me that if he were to race turbo trixs evo in a mile from a dead stop or from a roll he would win because evos have no top end. His best claimed time so far is 10.8 @147 . What does every one think?

I would like to build my evo for topend so i can shut him up!
What size turbo and final drive would it take a 2.0l Evo 8 with no nos to beat a 700whp supra from a roll? This would be a 1 mile race. Thanks in advance.

I think the EVO's gearing would be it's downfall.

I believe the supra is geared much higher (don't know the exact numbers though).

It's going to be pretty hard.
6 cylinder vs. 4 cylinder both turbo charged, I think I'll go with the more displacement 6 cylinder.

From a stop, it all depends on traction. I believe there is a Supra that does 1/4 mile in the 7's with full drag set-up. But with street tires, Evo all the way.

Your friend's Supra is damn fast, 147mph in 10.8 sec. compare to Turbotrix's 143mph at 9.95 sec. So from a roll, I say it's going to be pretty close between the two. From the pit, Turbotrix rules though.

Not to be mean or anything but the Supra is a whole different animal..

One of my Good friends had a 1993 supra with 780 at the wheels and the car was just sick. It is the fastest street car that I have been in to this date. My other buddy that races Mustangs had a faster car but was not street legal no ac or other stuff so it was not what you would call a street car...By street car I mean radio, AC, Power windows, power steering and can be driven on the street as a daily driver with no problems. The TOP END thing is true a Supra in general will have a higher top end than an Evo VIII. AND just to let you know I would just let him win on the TOP END thing. It will cost you alot of $$$ to compete with him on the top end side.. Just my feelings on this as I have an MR and in no way would I be thinking about trying a heavily modified SUPRA... Just a different beast and I respect them...... from prior experiences....

My 2

Put it this way... The JUN Auto Supra (granted it has near on, if not, over 1000whp) has done a Top Speed run of over 400KM/h - (250mph). And so I wish you the best of luck with the stoking of the motor to 2.2Litres and the massive amounts of Turbo Lag 3000rpm + that will be needed to spool the massive turbo AND all of the Race fuel needed.

Remember a full quater mile is bloody long when you car is trying to sustain full boost... Let Alone trying to chase down a DAMN quick Supra.

Cheers.

I was thinking an Ams gt35 or Gt40 kit with a taller final drive and a lot of boost.

Sounds good... However, you might want a pace car behind you to pick up the pistons, if you are wanting to spool that beast of a turbo.

These guys made 659whp on a built 2.0 liter with no nos and spool up looks good to me. Also with proper tuning it should not melt down pistons.

Imagine spending a lot of money on your Evo trying to beat this guy and at the end you still end up losing, that would suck wouldnt it? If you were already planning to do this then its fine but dont do it just to shut up your friend. Admit to your friend his car does have a bigger engine and he will have the advantage regardless on top end. Thats maybe why he says he will win on the 1 mile race because he already knows he wont beat it on the 1/4 mile?

yeah, your going to have to compare the 60ft times and the 1/8 miles times of a 700hp supra and the Tutrbotrix EVO. i think that will tell the story right there. most supras are awful off the line without a full drag rear end. but after a crappy 60ft and less then specatcular 1/8 mile, the supra will pull so hard it would for sure beat any evo in a 1 mile run. the evo will have such good 1/4 mile times because it can launch better then the street supra can. almost all of the time difference will be in the first 1/8 mile, then with the supra having a higher trap speed, it will certainly overtake the evo, and i'm sure very quickly too.

you might want to consider concentrating on some good aero work also. \\\

although i am a huge evo fan... and i love everythign about the turbotrix evo i think the supra would win. just becasue like the evo those are another tuning beast. and like someone stated before the gearing would really be the downfall of the evo.... but theres only one way to find out

So a Supra is faster, so what. Many cars can go faster, quicker, have better paint. You get your car for what you want. Last night I had a Supra toy with me for a bit. He was on my butt due to traffic and I was making a right turn, so did he.
Here's the kicker.
We were doing 35 mph in a 45 zone. I turned on my right turn indicator so did he. I turned at the street without slowing or braking, so did he. I made the turn, sharp and clean, right lane to right lane. He made the turn, right lane to center divider to the curb back to the center divider he had to be gripping the seat with his butt.
After that he stayed back until I turned off. We are street driving here guys, not street racing. If you wanted a 1/4 car, build the damn thing and leave it at that. If all you want is to beat the Supra on the top end, you need to change your final drive ratio.
Two ways to do that,
Expensive way, change your transmission ratio or the ring/pinions.
Cheaper way, bigger wheel/tire combo.
Sorry for the rant, sometimes I just don't get it.

doesn't the turbotrix evo run a 9 sec 1/4 mile though? i mean from a 1/4 mile track it would win, and talk about turbo lag , the supra probably has a single conversion t-78, t-88

im thinkin u just drop this crazy idea.... supras HIGHWAY evos 1/4 if u like to abuse diffs haha, but either way u put a built motor and crazy turbo setup on the evo, you will get him off the line any day with the evo, hell i beat a 600hp mustang with an almost stock evo while back because he got no traction granted the race was light to light lol. but still. our cars are good at stop to go not highway. so build it further what it is already good at!
