The tc would be the wiser choice in the long run when comparing warranty,maintence costs,ect........The tc has the camry motor which has been around since 2002,and if he opt's for the five speed it's only $16,500,combined with toyota quality you cant go wrong.BTW,I am sort of bias'ed opinion as I work for Toyota and have a Mazda dealer right next door.
