Angry New Mazda 6

I just saw the commercial fro a new mazda and had to check it out on the net.

CHeck it out at : http://www.mazdausa.com/mazda6/mz6_main_flash.asp

That's more competition for the OZ. It has a smaller engine with 160 hp. The V6 gives the 220 hp numbers.
Price for the V6 however is 23K

As for the displacement argument...you've got almost the entire B series line from Honda, some Mitsu engines, etc. We have a VERY low tech engine.

I don't place the 6 in the same game as the OZ... It's a larger car, more competition for a Galant... Maybe as a next car for me, but definatley with the V-6... Maybe they'll build a Galant with more power and a manual transmission by then...

I just take offense to the commercial... "the first true sport sedan."

What about the WRX?

I was under the impression M3 was only in a coupe trim...

However, can someone explain that "double cone" **** or whatever the mention/show in the commercial is? I guess it relates to the transmissions, but, any further information.

im guessing the Mazda 6 is competing against Eclipses..but probably Galants too since the Mazda 6 replaced the 626.

More like Galants... I think the only "sport coupes" in the eastern import world to compete with the Eclipse is the Accord in coupe trim, and the Celica. I don't think anyone is really eager to get in the ring with the Eclipse. Killed the Prelude, the Cougar, etc.

There is word that Mazda already has a Mazdaspeed version of the 6 in the works. More turbo fun.

i'm pretty sure they used to make the M3 in a sedan. they stopped a couple years ago, probably around the same time the M5 was introduced (can't be sure). if that's not a sport sedan i don't know what is.

Nah, the M3 did come in sedan form but (at least from what I see around here) they're significantly rarer.

I took one for a test drive last week. It was a great ride. They may have less hp than an Altima/accord but it def. handles better. Also the Mazda 6's competition is the Altima/Accord/Galant cars. You shouldn't even compare it to a lancer or an M3. I see a lancer as a compact. An M3 as a lux sports car comparable to Audi/Lexus/Mercades sp? I wouldn't even compare it to my car. Not in the same class IMHO.

no they aren't in the same class i agree. just saying that they said it was the "first sport sedan". well since the M3 used to come in sedan, and i'd say it's a sports car, that makes it a sport sedan. so mazda is lieing!!!! it's all lies!!! how could i ever trust a car company that lies to me!

I took it for a test drive yesterday and I am considering trading in my 2000 Accord for it. Handles really well and looks good!

Ya know you're right. I was just on the website and it says the Mazda speed protege is a sports sedan. Do they mean a compact sports sedan and the Mazda 6 is just a sports sedan? Oh well, both very nice cars from Mazda
