Does anyone read the whole article?

Mrs Schyf, a Jehovah's Witness, said her daughter had not followed the family religion and went her own way, but was always happy.

From this sentence we can, within the boundaries of reason, conclude that this marriage was *NOT* arranged by the Schyf's. This was a voluntary act by Natasha hence the usage of the word "own". Is anyone lost yet?

Miss Schyf and Mr Homer, who met two years ago through friends, had just moved into a new home to start a family with their first child

The author of this article knew enough to say the couple met through friends and would have most certainly mentioned any arranged marriage. Arranged marriages are most commonly Chinese, Hindus and East Indians, and Middle Eastern cultures. We can also conclude that the last name "Schyf" and "Homer" living the in the country of Australia is most probably not associated with any of the above cultures. And by the way, two years ago Natasha was 13 and Mr. Homer was 31. You can play with those numbers any way you want, and you still have a full grown adult and an adolescent.

Mr. Dousset spouts:

"I understand there is a huge push on at the moment with P-plate drivers, and I understand it, and I agree with it, but I don't want to use my son as a vehicle for it," he said.

Sorry but that doesn't correlate. You don't want your son to be used as a vehicle for something you agree with and understand? Excuse me but your ego isn't 1/1,000,000,000th as important as preventing the pain, anger, and sleepless nights another life wasted at the hands of a delinquent is going to cause two parents whose reward for the sacrifice of raising a child in today's world is the pleasure of being told they were killed in a "joyride".

If the P-plate propositions designed to keep people who exhibit poor judgemental skills off the streets are not pushed b/c of this accident it really will be a total waste!

Again, the father figure graces us with another tactfully delivered epitaph:

"He was over that infallible stage when teenagers feel bulletproof. He knew how dangerous it can be. I spent a lot of time educating him on driving and powerful cars"

Mr Dousset, who returned yesterday from a six-month working trip in the UK after learning of his son's death...

Good thing you found time between your long @$$ business trips to educate your son on "driving and powerfull cars". He was so educated, that he was a P-plate driver! You're really making sense now Mr. D!

In conclusion, you can view a response from several auto manufacturers on P-plate offenders. From the angle of the picture showing the disected vehicle, it appears there was some oversteer, and the car skidded or spun sideways into a tree or some other erect object. Unbelieveable.

As far as the other people in the car, think about it. What were the chances the 15 year old pregnant girl said " lets see how fast we can go". She was probably scared out of her mind. I feel sorry for everyone involved including the dad who could have taken the keys with him.

And remember we may be the most freedom loving country, but we have the most laws out of any. They still have horse and buggy laws on the books and use those laws in car accident settlements still to date.

I dont think the countries Gross National Product has anything to do with their customs.
1. she had a choice to get into the car, not to be killed, but that was one of the risks she took..
2. what i meant about the GNP was that most countries that pre arrange marriages and conseption are of the 3rd world range... countries that are not run by how many drugs and coffee beans they export don't have these rules/customs..
3. i know i/we cannot change these countries, but we sure can make their vote NOT count in the world's affairs (like in the Iraqi situation we're in now... please, i don't want to go political with this)

no offense taken

P plate means probationary driver.. it means you just got your plates, and you can only do certain things.. but they are change at different states.. you have to show your "p" plates when you get them for 2 years as a new ruling.

And yes.. this is a tragedy... you shoulda actually seen the car where it laid after it hit the pole.. 1 side of it was at least 250 metres from the pole.. stupid stupid stupid.

Poor Skyline. It is so sad to see it wrecked and torn apart.

Blah to you too. Pardon me for misreading it, and then proclaiming that, according to you both, I apparently never went ot school and am a complete nunce. Easy about now.

None taken buddy. That is what boards like this are all about, people giving different opinions and coming to their own conclusions. I agree with some of what your saying. I personally think you should be 18 to get married. As far as the girl having a choice to get in the car. Asking someone to go for a ride in a nice car is not the same as asking them to go and then doing 4 X's the speed limit. I didnt exactly think my friend would gun it out of the blue and try and take a turn at over 110 mph, at night time no less. Some things you just dont have any control over. Make sure you choose your friends wisely, because anyone who would drive like that with you in the car shouldnt be your friend. They have no respect for themselves, you, or others on the road. Sorry if this is a little
