Question 2004 NSX vs. 2005 Evo GSR (both stock)

Hey all,

Magazine racing asside, what do you think the results would be? Both bone stock and racing on a track like Streets of Willow, Buttonwillow or Laguna Seca. I dont care about 1/4 race in this instance.

Background: I'll be getting an 05 evo here in the near future and my stepfather just bought a 2004 NSX and we both want to take it out to a track day somewhere in CA for a little instruction and comparison.

Your comments are appreciated

well the NSX is tail happy so if your stepfather is a good track driver, he will give you a run for your money... unless the surface is really wet, he has an edge on you.... the NSX is so-so on paper but does wonders in real life.....

my point is the evo is such as awesome car because there is so much room to play with while the NSX has such a good 50/50 weight distribution that it can easily spin out if you go crazy with it and ofcourse much less traction then the evo.... unless your stepfather is very skilled, you will beat him.

evo will win. I've seen it before. Even the modded nsx vs lightly modded evo, evo will win.

Unless you have a very good driver.

Then again, it's all depends on the driver in real life driving.

Yea the NSX is a very very nice car, but you can edge him with the Evo....I don't know how good of a driver you really are but I have seen videos of my friends wopping Lamborghini on the track. On the Track the NSX will not stand a chance. Don't be afraid to push the car man. I only had one track race ever and I was up agains't Volvo S60R, BMW M3, 1994 Modded Vette, Audi S4 and some Hondas.....The Only Cars That were cole to me were the S60R and Audi....the other cars really didn't do much......Either way you both have really cool cars. Enjot and Have fun....

Let us know how it turned out....

Thanks for the input guys. For additional reference, neither of us have been to the track before. However he's had like 7 Porsches in the last 5 years (none taken to the track) and I have like 2 years of Gran Turismo 3 experience.

All in all, it should be fun when we go. Anyone know if EOC allows other types of cars to come?

I hear that. Practice Laguna Seca tonight with a bone stock Evo VII RS. I think that's as close as you can get to the Evo VIII GSR sold in the USDM right now. If you can beat an NSX, well then duh...you'll win no problem.

I am so going to do this when I get home from work today.

For those that are curious, no I don't actually consider GT3 experience as actual driving experience. I know the real thing and a PS2 game are two very different beasts.

Nonsense. I'm pretty sure that in real life, just as in GT3, I could beat anything on Cote D' Azur with my 980hp Impreza race car. LOL.

Not to hijack, but I just read that the GT4 release date was pushed back to March. I was hoping to test drive an Evo in GT4 before buying one. Oh well. I'll have to use GT4 now to sample which aftermarket rims look the best.

Yea I was really looking forward to some Evo action in GT4 this christmas (my wife preordered it for me).

Nothing like taking my seriously tweaked F094 on D' Azur and anhiliating everything

But slightly back on topic... So it looks like EOC doesn't allow other cars into the fun unless they are special people. Anyone know if there were some other than Evo's at this last EOC?

Well I'm home from work and as promised, I fired up GT3 to do some "Virtual head 2 head". Here's the results from running Laguna Seca in Arcade mode/free run in an Evo 7 GSR and a NSX Type-Z with no ASM/TCS and in automatic mode:

NSX: 1:33.35
Evo: 1:34.10

I know I can break 1:30 in both if I tried more than 5 laps in each, but I'd rather wait for the real thing in a few months..

Anyone know of any driving classes/schools/instructionals going on around march/april in CA somewhere? I wanna sign up now
