Skyline are not the same price as the Evo in Japan. I believe if converted to US dollars the Skyling is about 50k and the Evo is 26k roughly. If they really wanted to Nissan could easily make the R34 legal in the US by doing some modifications. Its just that they want to keep some certain cars for the japanese only. Think about it, why wouldnt they want to bring it to the US, you know those will sell like crazy but they just dont care. my 2 cents

this thread starter just gave me inspiration to start other threads!

i think i should go start a: Mclaren F1 vs. Carrerra GT, if this were a free world (which never will be) which one would you have and why?

porche 911 turbo vs. ford GT, if this were afree world which would you have and why?

evo vs. civic, which is better? if this were a free world which would you have and why?

Flux capacitor vs. normal capacitors, if this were a free world which would you have and why?

ok enough of this nonsense... you people are just shooting a dart blindfolded... the japan GT circuit BANNED GTR's because it dominated both the 500 and 300 circuit... dude this is totally off the wall... the evo is the most amazing car i've ever owned but then again i've never owned a skyline

definetly the evo is more agile so it can edge it out on autocrossing but besides that, the GTR's usable power and balance for road racing is god-like ok sorry enough drooling.....

Skyline comes with an 6 cylendar has way more potencial for horse power and is just a stronger car altogether but it costs more than double what an Evo does so

best car is Skyline
best bang for the buck Evo

I usually say there is no replacement for displacement besides technology, but the skyline's got both. Not happy with stock? Change about 5 values in the ECU coding and you've got a car that will happily crap on any production supercar out there. Not happy with that? Well, then, I'd suggest you build your own car... As far as high performance cars go, the GTR is hard to/almost impossible to beat... that and you get a pretty nice interior. Everything you say about the evo on why it is so amazing, the GTR does/has/can do/will do and handles all these measures better. I still love my evo, but I don't plan on subjecting it to the abuse of off-road rally and on tarmac, the GTR eats up the evo.

I made this thread "money is no option" because a single guy with a pretty good job in a one-bedroom can afford either, so I don't believe it's that off base. I just wanted to learn how the whole AWD to RWD thing worked because it seemed like that would be an incredible feature. The small displacement I6 seemed nice too, and AYC. And I would mod either one of them so FQ400 wouldn't matter aside from SAYC. Thanks for all of the good input so far. Is there a good link with information on them? I tried to do a search and it only lead me to car buying websites that weren't even selling them.

check motorex for the skylines. they sell 'em, but they also have good info on them. and it's more than just the RWD<>AWD system (ATTESA), there's also the HICAS which is an all wheel steering system, kind of like how you see in firetrucks and the latest GMC SUVs, that gives the skyline such amazing handling ability. (sidenote) in 2f2f or f&f, i dunno which one had a skyline, but i heard they had to actually disable the skyline's AWS and/or AWD system because it was nearly impossible to get the car to drift sideways without reaching excessive and dangerous speeds.

For the price of a US legal skyline, i'd rather spend the money and buy a nice E55 AMG, screw the skyline. You walk up to the door and it automatically unlocks the car for you (assuming you're carrying the electronic key). You run 12's stock w/o lifting a foot to shift all the while with the comfort of heated leather seats and A/C. Manual cars are at this level are for drivers that want to shift slower than autos. In all honesty that's my personal choice a few years from now.

As for performance wise, skyline> evo. I'm sure you already know this from the great amount of knowledge on this forum comprised mostly of magazine number /nternet racers. In straight line speed from a roll? A supra and skyline has the same potential. If you're searching for a oldschool american car? Buick Grand national GNX > * straight line IMO.

Edit: I thought motorex doesn't import skyline r34's anymore. Only R32's?

yeah you are right on that... skyline has so much grip , drifting it was too tough. in 2F2F, they had to disable all the AWD system on their movie skylines so it can drift through the turns....

on BestMotoring, it seemed like the 911TT was slightly faster on the straights because of the cross gearing but the GTR would outturn and outbrake it.
