00 Viper or 05 EVO MR

I understand that these cars are completely different in every possible way...but ive just been searching around and am seeing that you can get an 00 Viper for about high $30s, thats roughly the same price and its 2000, so NOT that old at all and most all have low miles. What would you guys buy if you had a choice. 00 Viper for $38k or 05 MR for $35,500??

If the car needs to be a daily driver, I would definitely go with the MR. I can't imagine trying to drive a Viper during the winter. If it's a second car, then it's a tough decision. If you plan to take the car on a road course, the Viper will need some work beforehand. At the very least a brake upgrade to combat brake fade. For me, I prefer the Evo, but it basically would come down to personal preference. Both cars are awesome.

Yea, is this gonna be an extra car or daily driver?

My answer in advance is:

Extra car - VIPER. More head turns.... You can say you own a Viper, and its got mad potential. and dont have to worry about crappy warranty coverage.

Daily Driver - MR. Well i dunno about you but in the snow.... Vipers probably dont do so well.

Not sure I'd buy a Viper for under $40,000. I'd probably look in the high $40's though. You could get a good one in that price range. As far as the comparison goes, I have a Viper GTS I bought new in 1999 and an 05 'standard' Evo my wife and I bought last weekend.

The Viper really is faster. It has a ton more power, especially in the top end where there is no comparison. I did upgrade the brakes to a system that is probably comparable too the stock Evo system, minus the ABS of course.

The Evo is much better as a daily driver. In the end, I prefer the Viper as a 'toy', but would own the Evo as my only car. The Viper just doesn't handle everday commuting very well.

Where can you get a Viper for $35000???? Last time I looked (before I bought my EVO) even well used ones were going for $40-50000. I just checked on EBay and there is nothing in that price range that has met its reserve. Sounds like a dream to me.

Whats the difference between GTS and RT/10. Is it that GTS is hardtop and RT/10 is removable? Is that only difference?

the viper sucks in rain and snow, so MR would be a better option imo

the viper is extremely quick (not that the evo isn't but the evo has turbo lag which slows it down) but poorly made. the evo is a better car year round not to mention that it would be new verses old. I say get the evo.

I have had a considerable amount of time with a 2001 Viper. The car is an animal, it has the drama, the looks, and the motor. But in the everyday roads even on the twisty race track the Viper is at the mercy of the Evo...for that matter so are Porches, M3, and Just about everything else out there. Even Modenas. Trust me I went against or have driven the aforementioned cars on racetracks, autocross and the occasional back road flogg. The Evo is damn near perfect!!!! Just my 2 cents.

No questions about it, if you can afford the upkeep, get the Viper. The evo isn't exactly the greatest daily driver anyway.
