The SRT-10 and me.

What a beast. I am by no means a skilled or professional driver, but I don't think of myself as a newb or amateur considering all the different kinds of vehicles I've driven over the years. But, this one takes the cake. I was amazed at how well the power was planted, despite looking at the huge 22 inch tire and wheel combo. The engine is literally crammed into the bay with which looks like very little remaining space. I didn't do any clutch dumps or smoky burnouts, but the freight train like pull is managed well by the suspension and tires - it just takes some concentration with the bus like Ram wheel and big Hurst shifter to keep it between the lines. But I can't imagine what this thing must be like on a rainy day or if you went around a curve and caught a patch of gravel. Something like that happens and you could cancel Christmas.

I hate the fact they waste good engines on trucks. Trucks are just a necessary evil....they are big, ugly, and not fun to drive. When I need to tow stuff or buy a washing machine I'll RENT a truck....when I wanna drive I'll BUY a car.

Well I read in Automotive News that there's like a 180 day supply of Vipers, so they aren't actually flying off the shelf. Maybe there's more engines then cars and this is a good way for Chrysler to get rid of them.

It is definitely a rich mans toy. I dont know what its specs are, but I think the towing capacity and bed capacity are rediculously low making it all but useless as a real truck anyway. It must be tough on someone's ego to have to explain that a base V6 powered ram porbably has more towing capacity then a 500 hp SRT-10 because of its sport tuned suspension and racing rear end.

The Rumble bee mentioned earlier makes more sense. and it will be much more reasonably priced I'm sure.

I doubt this truck will be in production long, especially sense it looks as if Ford has cancelled the next gen Lightning . The Chevy SS isn't even a contender. The lack of competition and the stiff price of entry will probably do it in.

specs of this truck are simple. Viper's 8.3-liter, OHV, aluminum V-10 = 500 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque oh and it has a 508 watt stereo (notice the 500+ trend, eh?) Comes with the tremec T-56 six speed which is why they dont recommend you tow anything. the truck can tow as some owners have hauled other cars with the thing. Or if you want to tow and have a warranty there is now a quad cab version of this truck with the same specs except it as an auto and tow 7500 pounds and carry around 1200 in the bed i think.
