so basically you're telling us you live by magazines?

the c6 has been hitting mid 12's all day and trapping around 112-114 STOCK...the current z06 is easy to get into the 12.3-12.1 range at about 116-117mph BONE STOCK ( i ran a 12.4@115 my first night at the drag strip with a 2.1 60')...and a few really skilled drivers have hit 11.8@118mph BONE STOCK in the c5 z06 (and a cam only z06 runs mid 11's all day)....don't you think that an additional 100HP, 200lbs less, bigger tires, and more aggressive gearing would be EASY to hit mid 11's off the showroom floor? yup, you got that right...the new z06 will make a name for itself as the pinnacle of all around performance, just like the current z06 is as close as you can get without breaking the bank

educate yourself a little before spouting BS that you hear from friends or crappy magazines, or from people who don't go to the road courses or drag strips

Either way i don't care....as for me this year anything other than 10s isn't fast enough anyway.
BTW...stock z06's aren't fast...i have saw many even with nitto 555r drag /street tires run only mid to low 12s stock at like 115 ish mph....weaksauce for 45-50k in my book especially when you start to turn with them and stuff....or try to drive that monster hooded, super low seated beast...they do go straight pretty fast though but in my opinion don't offer any insperation in the turns .
you're lame...you just proved your not worth arguing over because not only do you not know what other cars are capable of, but you completely misread everything i have said...funny how a bone stock z06 with nittos can run mid to high 11's @118mph, yet you see one of them run a slow time and you think they all run what you saw

guess what? at the track event i went to the stock evos were having a hard time breaking high 13's, lol....i slaughtered them in my bone stock z06 lighting up 12.4's all day on stock tires

browse over at www.z06vette.com or www.corvetteforum.com and see what kind of times people are running

better yet, ask for a guy named "ranger", he will lead you to any infomration you will need

the problem with most people is they live by magazine times too much.....

I do some driving instruction and had a chance to drive both the Z and the EVO8. I really liked the EVO, but the Z was just the better track car, more powerful and stable at high speeds. Both are bang for the buck cars in their respective leagues. On certain tracks the EVO might have an edge as it's a little more agile. I would think it would perform well against a Z on the Street of Willow course, but in the big Willow course it's all Z.

BTW I bought the Z for about 12k more than the EVO8 after the test drives. Might get and EVO as a daily driver somewhere down the road, I likes it that much.
The Mitso Evo is an excellent car as well as is the Z. With drivers of equal skill ( and this is he BIGGEST factor in the equation is DRIVER SKILL ) it is the other way around. The evo can not come close to 'hanign' with the Z.

I have driving many many times with Evos and STIs on road race course and have lots of video following Evos and in very short order passing them.
Some times the all-wheel drive cars are a disadvangate with a driver of limit skill. The all wheel drive gives TOO much confidence. We have seen more all wheel drives go OFF in rain sessions then in dry sessions.

It comes down to DRIVER SKILL more then what type of car they are driving.
i doubt you spend nearly as much time as me at either the drag strip or the road courses...

ignorance is bliss

truth hurts

sorry to give you a reality check on which car is no doubtedly faster, classier, more prestigious, and an automotive icon for 50 years

you're probably some teenager that wears baggy pants, a backwards visor, and bumps rap music while weaving in and out of traffic and revving at mini vans....j/k of course...just bored and trying to stir things up =)

good night

The dude has an 11 second evo. That is way faster than a bone stock Z06 as you claim you have. And he probably spend less on it total than you did on yours stock. AND I'm sure it has better handling.

Plus, the evo has been an automotive icon for 13 years and it probably still has almost as big a following as corvettes do since it has worldwide popularity.

Don't come on this forum as a newbie with your supposed Z06 and think you can trash longtime members because you have a more expensive car than them. Go back to pretending you can smoke vipers and cobras on z06vette and corvetteforums.

guys...c'mon this thread is talking about the C6 Z06....not about the Evo vs C5 Z06....or maby im wrong. Everyone has opinions and everyone has seen something that may be unbelivable....yeah i have seen a civic take a viper. The civic was squezing the whole way and the viper had a horid launch.....and im sure everyone has seen that video. Just because 1 car did something doesnt always mean every other one can, stock or modded.

So did we get an official price tag for the Z06, I heard 75k however I havent seen anything to back it up.

....i respect fast cars, what I DON'T respect is BS being thrown out by ignorant guys who know nothing about the car they are bashing and are misinformed

and the whole price argument is rather lame...i never got the memo that the point in life is to have the cheapest car...if that was the case, then you should have bought an srt-4

and an 11 second evo is not a lot faster than a stock z06, because stock z06's are easily in the 12.1-12.3 range with a good driver, and a great driver can light up 11's, AND trap 117mph

and for the record, my first post was pure coincidence...i was planning on saying hello and post some pics of my car with mods (headers, intake, dyno tune, full exhaust, suspension mods), until i ran into this BS

i was disappointed by this forum, i was under the impression that evo guys know more about cars and don't act like little ricer kids thining they are god's gift

http://public.fotki.com/evodave/2nd_...pgrade/44.html
and here is the fabrication from the second turbo upgrade kit
http://public.fotki.com/evodave/2nd_turbo_kit_upgrade/
and here is my car itself
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=120552.

I set the record for fastest evo running stock ecu at 11.51 at 122.98 mph and ran i believe about 10-12 11.5s in two outtings. That was at low boost (25psi) as i coulda upped it to 28 or 29 with that turbo setup on the gas i had. Additionally i ran that on a pump gas $200 reflash. I didn't even richen it up when i ran that and let it go at 10.7:1 a/f's. The car was still running stock MAF, intake manifold, throttle body, head (just cams and headbolts) , bottom end, spark plugs and ecu ( just reflashed)> That was with a $2000 piece together turbo kit also so i think i have qualifications to talk especially considering now my car has much much more done to it and will run 10s for sure.

I hope the z06 is fast.....i just don't see it running 127 mph...i am sorry you felt the need to come on here and make your first posts to trash on me cause i had some insite regarding the car and wanted to share what i was reading (not trashing the sweet car). I hope it is very fast cause the ws6's i raced last year weren't even the one that had a large amount of weight loss, street et's , cams, intake , header, exhaust and 150 shot was dead even all night with my car....that was till he ran outta nitrous then he went from trapping 123-124 mph to 113-115mph at our ****ty track we run at.
i'm really glad for you, you have a fast and sweet car....and you are running what a Cam only z06 runs....but you didn't know that, because you think they are high 13 second cars, lol....you probably see older guys at the track who don't know what they are doing or you are in high altitude conditions

i also love the "i could have..." comment, lol....and i could have slapped on some heads and a magnasun if i wanted to..what's your point? i don't understand why you think running on "stock" parts is such an accomplishment, because that's the purpose of owning a fast car, to have a fast car with not a huge overhaul
