if you are only wanting to spend 3 grand on a bike then i would look into used ones because their is nothing outtheir other than real small bikes. look into some old kawasakis suzukis yamahas and hondas dont bother with harleys because they all are over 7grand and dont get any cheaper

I meant physical size, not engine size.. there's a significant difference in engine size and the sportster weighs more too..

I don't know about the '05 models, but the Rebels look very skinny from the front. If you want a low budget new cruiser, then check out Alpha Sports' 250. A buddy of mine at work was looking at a 250cc cruiser for cheap. He bought an Alpha Sport, and it way bigger than a 250 in person.

Although, just as a warning, you will not only lack some power, but you'll notice the gearing on such small displacement engines to be very short.

a honda rebel is definately a beginner bike, and once you get use to it you will want more power, especially if u ride a passenger.

The Rebel is a very small bike. I recommend going to a dealer and sitting on one. If your are 5'-10"or taller you will be very uncomfortable on one.

I recommend a used '00 Suzuki GS500. It is a standard motorcycle and is a perfect beginner motorcycle.

I dont want a sports bike. Also im only 5'5-5'6. And will not be riding a passenger. Also like I stated this is not for racing and I just need it to begin with. I will also be taking a honda safety course.

for a 96-99 model year, after 2000, they are heading upwards. You can get a 883 in that range, not a 1200.
