im looking at getting a bike also. i wouldnt recommend that because its way to small. lots of guys convinced me into a suzuki sv650s so im going to get one in the summer. me and my dad check them out today and even he likes it. PS if you are going to get a 250cc look at the NINJA 250R its a sport bike and is only 3 grand. looks alot better than the rebel and is cheaper as well

Actually it looks alot like the older Nighthawk..
Some of us actually like cruisers.. I personally HATE sport bikes..
If I recall the Rebel has a pretty small engine, it'll get out of its own way, but its not a big bike, around the same size as a sportster if I recall.
It really depends on what you want to spend.. I usually end up modifying everything, so take that into account too, you may not be able to leave well enough alone.
I'm actually picking up a friend of mine's Honda in a few months, its an older bike but its got extremely low mileage and almost no visible wear on it... plus the price is right. Its a little bigger then the Rebel, but not much.

This is very nice but to expensive. This is just a hobby. Maybe ill just get the honda. Im only 5'6
i work at CAD cycles in Gaithersburg, MD and i know a bit about bikes/first time riders. Even though you don't want to go too fast, you will get bored as hell with a rebel 250, and wanna get back in your evo. You should be getting the adrenaline rush from your bike if you're gonna have one...EVOSTEVO makes a good suggestion, the SV650 is a great beginner intermediate bike. I had one, and loved it. Fair enough speed with great usable powerband, and you gotta love that sport-twin engine. But, dont get a rebel. They use those in the MSF (motorcycle safety foundation) course i took.
