2.4l Turbo Evo Engine...

Check out this site:
http://www.sp.dianet.or.jp/mmc/docs5...ro/pajero.html
Looks like tested a prototype 4G64 DOHC Turbo in 1995.
The numbers are pretty impressive:
300PS @ 4000rpm (misprint...?)
60kg/m torque @ 3000rpm (that's about 450lbs/ft of torque!!! )

I don't know how well these engines did. I'm trying to research 's performance at the Paris Dakar for that year. They never used the engine again...
None the less, could use the basis and the numbers from these prototypes for a possible 2.4l Lancer Evo engine... or we can always dream
One thing's for sure: this engine would give the 2.5l Sti a good run.

300 PS (about 295 HP) seems reasonable to me at that low of an RPM. Peak torque is 434 lb-ft, peak power occurs at around 390 lb-ft of torque, which seems like a reasonable dropoff given the long stroke.

This engine is not really suited to the Evo, as it would not be at all rev-happy. I'm guessing redline was set at around 5500.

Yeah, would have to change the tuning for freer revving.
Still, since used this engine for rally racing, it has potential and could be used in the EVO.

The 2.4 is a great idea... many people in the DSM world are going to this "stroker" motor instead of building up their 4g63 block.

They are using the 4g64 block with their 4g63 head... there are not a lot of them out there yet, but soon it may be the choice for those that need/want to rebuild their motor for their DSM.

Sweet. That will give Subaru a run for their money, if only brought down the price of the EVO

Cheers

I found a little more info. used the 2.4l 4G64 Turbo in 1995 and 1996. In both rallies they did not win but were in the top 5.
The year after, they started using the 6G72 MIVEC due to regulation changes.
Overall the engines seemd reliable and proved to be a good basis for a high performance boost engine.
HEY if you're listening (reading?), use the 2.4l 4G64 in the EVO!!! Please ...?
