^^^ plus, the last few seconds of the video show the tread on the tires- those look like all seasons to me You can even see good sized chunks missing.

you know, the almost exact thing happened to me on an offramp, i posted pics earlier. right turn, into a drift, countersteer, and then spin left, didn't hit a wall but went through some bushes out the other side onto the on ramp. never quite sure what happened, but either i overcorrected, or the front left tire lost traction on the pebbles. i was pretty sure i never hit the brake though.....

I can't believe the spectators were laughing.

It looks like the rear stepped out as soon as he started turning in. That can happen if you stay on the brakes while turning ("trail-braking").

The video shows why trying to "save" a car can be worse than just accepting that you've messed-up a turn and driving straight off. The guy was all crossed-up, and then when he'd scrubbed off enough speed that the tires finally got traction, it took him off in a direction he didn't want to go.

But I can't tell from the video whether running straight off was an option. Doesn't look like it.

I just watched the video again. If you watch the driver's hands and helmet in the rear view you will notice that after he impacts the side his hands slip off the steering wheel and his head falls forward and to the side... I think the impact knocked him unconscious.

But I kinda learned how to drift so I counter steered then turn the wheel straight and hit the gas when the car was pointing the direction ai needed to go, came outta my drift LUCKY ME! I did close to the same thing last night in my '02 Lancer OZ, I was getting on an on ramp on I-79 south of Pittsburgh, and while being a little inebriated (my own fault) I drove too fast into the turn hit a puddle and hydroplaned into a 360 spin. No one was behind me, I pressed the clutch, down shifted to 2nd and took off, never going under 30mph. Lucky me. Never gonna drink and drive again. Too close for me.

Luckily, I just had my snow tires taken off earlier that day.
