2nd Gen Eclipse Question

Hey whats up everyone? Just some quick questions for everyone. My friend has a 98 Eclipse GST manual. What transmissions from other cars and years are interchangeable. What trans's can we use to put in that 98 GST?

95-99 gsts should all be interchangable...there might be minor diffs between 95/96 & 97-99 ones thou

My buddy tranny in his eclipse is going and we need to replace it asap, we need to find what trannys will fit without any kinda of modifications. So what years can we interchange without running into any problems or having to change anything.

you can put a tranny from a 2nd gen AWD car with minor modification. It's a stronger tranny.....other than that....i dont' think there are other options.....

swaping from front to awd is a $6,000 option including install from what i hear. U can have a rebuilt GST put in for WaaaAAAAyYYYYYY cheaper....theres a place in jersey that does rebuilds for 2nd gens for like 2 thousand i belive...i was thinking about getting a converable gst and addin the awd...till he quoted it!! lol. Check out turbotirx..they do eclipse rebuilds too!!

try asking on www.dsmtuners.com

i believe 95-99 eclipse GS-Ts are all the same, the only differences are cosmetic from my understanding. double check and ask on dsmtuners.com

its probably cheaper to get a built tranny, than putting it into a rebuild. i dunno thou. check around for some part-car DSMs that might have a tranny.

Be careful of the Crankwalk, you have the right year and model ripe with it. If you're thinking about swapping in a AWD tranny, don't bother. BUT if you need to do tranny work on a GS-T, look up a company called TRE, Team rip engineering and have them BUILD YOU ONE.

Get a taller 1st gear, double sunchro, and get a Phantom Style LSD with a HEAVY spring. You need a LSD for that car.
