Anyone waiting for the new M3?
Ive heard BMW will have a V8 in the new M3.
-When will it be released??
-How much horsepower?
-How much?
I assume it will have enough power to compete with a C6 corvette?

The M5 is released in Europe already, but its a YEAR away from that for the USA. The M3 isnt even close to out in Europe yet, just to give you an idea. So you will be waiting quite some time for the V-8 M3, which will be called M4 BTW.
The M6 will be out sooner than the new M4 so start savin', its starts @ about a hundred grand. Oh. and expect the price of the forthcoming M4 to be about 15k more than the outgoing model or about 75- $80,000......

CarbonKiller is right - it will be a V8 based on the 5L V10 from the E60 M5; thus it will be ~4L as opposed to the S62 (4.9L V8) from the E39 M5.
However it is not certain whether it will be called the M4 or not.
The new E90 (new 3 series coming out in a couple months) is only just coming over and the coupe and cabrio generally arrive before the M version. I'd say at least 2 years. Personally I'm waiting for the Porsche Cayman (Club Sport hopefully).

[QUOTE=WestSideBilly]BMW is restoring the traditional odd=saloon/even=coupe naming system, but it wouldn't surprise me to see both an M3 and an M4 - the former being a four door and the latter a two door.QUOTE]
They have abandoned the numbering convention and are staying with the status quo. Focus groups told them the change would be too confusing for consumers.
That being said, I am eagerly awaiting the new M3 and I will definitely buy one.

Odd=saloon/even=coupe is too confusing? What kind of retards are they using for focus groups? And how on earth did iDrive ever get okayed with that level of intelligence making their decisions?
