Last night on the History Channel there was a repeat of the 'Full Throttle' episode where they built up the two 1985 Grand Nationals. Totally fine rides. If only GM made 'em like that nowdays...

People would buy those GNX's as fast as they could get their hands on them. The GTO sucks.

This was a joke anyway so it doesn't matter.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys but Buick will not build that car. Not that they cannot build that car, but it will cost to much money and they have to many cars to compete against. First of you have your sets of 350z, G35, GTO (which is not selling for crap)....etc.... See what I mean. Another reason, Buick is more set for the older folks. It's very interesting the way GM feel straight on their face with the GTO. You can get a 2005 for $24K out the door. It's sad how everything looses it's value when it's touched by GM......, but I really don't care because Evo still rule

This is an independent artists rendition of what the car could be if Buick ever made it. Just look for it on the web.

YAh, Its too bad, but there was some rumors awhile back just before the GTO was introduced, about the GN/GNX and Chevelle/SS based on the Monaro platform.. Too bad, I thought GM actually came through for us Old/New guys..

WestSideBilly,

I realize that this JOKE of a car is the same as the GTO. The GTO still sucks. Build that car with a single or twin turbo V6, make it look like that picture in RWD OR AWD and watch them sell. I know a few thousand Buick guys that would buy that car instantly. THAT is why I say they would sell very quickly.

Hey David,

You should start offering engine swaps for the current GTO people. Swap out that V8 and drop in a TT V6...

to be honest, if someone would offer a swap evo for pristine GNX, it would be hard to turn down. i have only personnaly seen 2 gnx's in my lifetime, and i'm 29 and remember the turbo buicks, the grand nats, and the turbo t-bird, and the not so famous 89 turbov6 formula trans am.

Rhetorically if the car were to be built, It would be a major competitor against the evo. Maybe you are all forgetting that the RWD Inline Twin Turbo'd V6's are the car of choice for tuning on the drag (Supras.) Supras and 300zx's are monsters on the highway and the capability of a well built inline 6 is phenominal (Mike Carlin 950 horsepower on stock internals with his Supra.) However all of those cars have to get up to speed to enjoy them (traction.) So Imagine not a 3.0 Liter inline 6, but a 3.8 liter inline 6... and it wouldn't have to get up to speed to be fun, it would have AWD. It would be basically an American Made Skyline... with the capabilities of hitting above 600 and up horsepower with a big single turbo... for around 5 grand. If developed right the handling would potentially be close to an evo...... although u may need a set of coilovers If this car WAS made, and there was an aftermarket for it... This thing would be a monster. The American Skyline... and I so wish they would make this

That's what GM assumed would happen with the GTO. Legendary name, V8 up front, drive the rear wheels, 'classic' looks (rather than typical GM gaud), at a reasonable price - Should sell like hotcakes? It didn't, and a $38,000 GNX wouldn't either.

The one thing this concept has is marginally better looks; I don't believe GM could actually pull that appearance off. The price ($5000 more than a GTO?) wouldn't help either.
