Return of the Camaro
I'm glad it wasn't a Pontiac GTO photo rebadged as a Camaro (Buick GNX). I love the late 60s Camaro, and that concept photo looks sweet. But, that's sort of copying Ford? The new Mustang already did the 'retro-but-modern' look.
oh lord I hate Camaro's and Firebirds almost as much as Mustangs but I can say that resurrecting the Camaro name and making it a Mustang beater would be easy if GM just got their head out of their A$$! All they need to to is use existing platforms. The Malibu "L" platform is about the right size for that kinda car and has independent suspension plus this platform is shared with the new Saab 9-3's which get pretty good reviews and handle good. So, they put some retro Camaro sheet metal on this platform and use existing V-6's on the base model and LS-1 or LS-2's in the "SS" models (probably LS-1 to keep it priced ith the Mustang GT's) and there you go....a retro looking Camaro with V8 horsepower and handling which the Mustang wouldn't be able to touch. I like the new Saab 9-3's myself actually so even though I fear GM quality more than any make this would be worth checking out if they actually did it.
Whether or not this car actually comes out, only proves there's a definite desire for retro cars.. But what is more important to me is the trend towards RWD and AWD passenger cars.. Opens the hot-rodding possibilities back up again..

That article is out of date - just last month GM officially announced it was ceasing all further development on the new rwd platform that the resurrected Camaro was supposed to use. So it's status now is anyone's guess, but it don't look good.
