I might get a Eclipse RS and was wondering how it compares to the lancer. Are they alot faster and do they have more potenial.

Depends. Basically no. They used to be really weak, then they put in the 420A motor (from the Neon R/T), which is still weak. There's no point in getting one unless you want to pour lots of money into it to become the fastest niche car. A good Eclipse to start with would be the GSX, Galant VR4, Talon TSi AWD or even a Plymouth Laser, which all have the 4G63. Maybe a Silvia or 300ZX TT if you could afford it.

buddy automatic stock eclipse -18.0
buddy 5 speed stock eclipse - 16.9
buddy automatic stock lancer - 17.6
me 5 speed stock lancer - 16.7

all decent/good drivers. nothing professional though. so all in all the lancer is a bit quicker

 

I am going to most likely get the Eclipse do to its nice looks. I will just keep it stock and make it to a stocker. I like the Eclipse and its a nice daily driver.

 

Well, if you don't care, why did you ask about potential and speed?
If you don't care about speed and just want the looks, go for it! There's nothing visually wrong with the eclipse, I think it looks futuristic.

 

Get the 4G63 or you'll be SORRY, they are VERY VERY slow otherwise, like 145 HP

Last time I checked (no offense to Lancer guys) the Eclipses all have way more potential.

If you're talking about how they look, the new Ralliarts look AWESOME IMO, especially compared to the current new Eclipses; however, when the new '06 Eclipse comes out... it'll be hard to say for sure, I really like the '06 E in the black color.

 

what kind of potential... handling... or engine? looks?

 

I am not talking about the new Eclipse because I think that looks to much like a Scion TC. Also I will not be sorry. I am not doing any road racing and I do not need to show off. I just buy cars to get to point a to point b. I do not need max speed if I wanted that I would not be looking at the Eclipse or the Lancer. I am sorry but you guys people like you kind of get on my nerves. How fast does a car need to be. This is exacly why teens get in car accidents. I do not need a hot rod to go to school.

I was talking about the 1995-1996 NT Eclipse above, the 420a Motor consisting of the RS model and the GS. They suck, they really do. GET A SPYDER atleast it has a 2.4.

 

yea since the RS n GS always has a valve cover problem always leaking oil.........

 

Like I said I am not in a race I am going to point a to point b.

 

umm didnt u sell ur lancer for a RSX

 

No If you would have read a thread from awhille ago I did not buy the RSX.
