This kind of thing happens to cars all the time. It's not unusual and it isn't necessarily Mitsubishi's fault. The supplier of the part may have made a bad batch of parts for them. Who knows. Either way it's overweight and FWD. As a former GSX owner it doesn't interest me.

I beg to differ that American can't put together cars but I DO agree that America can't design cars.
don't forget the BMW and mercedes plants in the carolinas (north and I think south as well)

Idiot, it isn't a 1st run, been so from the 7 and then it simply became the 8 so it ISN'T a 1st run.

Well this was to be expected, its still Mitsubishi after all. Hopefully there will be no deaths related to this. If it was the Ford Eclipse, we would have had at least 6 national recalls by now, and at least one would have involved a fire.
