I'd call the insurance company just to make sure my policy won't be too expensive. Then I'd find out what the stealship is willing to give me in trade- esp given that it's modded and probably will be traded that way. Watch them lowball you and then turn around and sell it for MORE than a new 05 because of it's "performance" features. but what're you gonna do about that.

Lastly I'd decide if I really wanted to get rid of the lancer. If you can live with all of them, then why not?

Oh, I wouldn't mod the Eclipse for a while. It's the first year of a major redesign so there may be problems and you'll want to have the warranty intact.

easy with the bumps- it's been 3 minutes

I voted maybe with reason. Don't trade in your car.. you will get ripped off by the dealership and they will only give you about 60% of what you could sell it for. Go private party and sell it. You will get tons more money than if you trade it in. Just a little over a year ago I sold my piece of crap 96 eclipse for 5600 bux.. the only thing it had was a nice looking body kit and rims which I did myself. The dealer was only going to give me $2000. If you sell your lancer ES, you would probably get around $8000 if you clean it up real nice so it looks brand new. Then put that towards whatever car you want.. like the 06 Eclipse you are considering.

thanks guys i appreciate your suggestions. Yea the stealership wanted to give me 3000 for trade in bc they said i messed with the odometer (oz gauge) but now they're willing to work with me to bring it up. I probably will end up doing private selling to get more. I"m trying to get an idea of what I can ask for the Lancer. I guess about 8000 is pretty good. It has about 52K on it. I cant afford to have both the cars. Just trying to decide if the GT is worth selling the lancer. The drop in mpg is a bit scary.. but the thought of the V6 engine makes me salivate.

I too am thinking about doing same. Trading in my 04 ES for the 06 GS. I have to see what my monthly payments and insurance would be like.

not always

New car's have weaker body than old ones. old cars are freaking twice as strong as new ones and that is why their insurance rates are less.

well the eclipse is better in almost every way except for practicality and maybe looks. I still wouldnt buy the eclipse for 2 reasons. 1 is that its a mitsubishi and they messed up on the last eclipse in a lot of places and 2 is that its *** ugly.

you probably think it looks sweet and maybe you like mitsubishi and if thats the case then go for it!

what were the problems with the last eclipse?

est monthly payments on the eclipse would be about 420..versus my 270 on the lancer. insurance would go up 20 dollars on my policy.

Well...can you afford the extra $170 a month, plus whatever else that will have to go into it. Remember now, there won't be any mods available for the car for a little while; so you'll just have to enjoy the 263 without an intake/exhaust/etc. What a big bummer...seriously, do it!
