it holds the corner just like our evo yet maybe better and more power
You need to do a search for the Evo 7 RS that was sliding around the track and overtaking cars on the outside... unfortunately the driver wrecked it at the end. That was like 2 years ago BTW.

heres my question. why would u place ur air cooling device aka intercooler on top of ur engine? what engineer thought of that idea?

I was always wondering the same thing, wouldn't the goal be to get the air fastest way possible? which would be a front mount? dunno, subaru and there whacky ideas. Almost as crazy as the time some kid said he used a leaf blower for a supercharger/intake(?)...whack ****.

whats so impressive about that car? The track seems wet and hes sliding everywhere... Its hard to tell how well the car is handling when it seems like hes out there having fun and drifting at the same time.

I would go as far as to say we aint getting real Evos just cause we dont get AYC. AYC just makes bad drivers look really good.

the topmount intercooler is NOT a bad idea when considering the amount of damage a front mount can take from all the debris on a rally course. For this application this engineering idea is pretty smart IMO. Doesn't a front mount IC use more plumbing too?

This is a stoopid thread.

It would have been better if the title was "Hey, check out this cool video!".

No sensible person would get rid of an EVO just because of this video. Even if the new STI does come over here with the same specs as the JDM version and it performs like that, most people are still going to keep their EVOs.

Subaru engines use a boxer design. The top mounted intercooler makes a great deal of sense from an engineering standpoint.

exactly. the thread subject line is teh dUmb
top mount means shorter piping since it sits closest to the turbo and intake manifold. it's not because it gets damaged in rally, since in rally they use front mount. the only time it makes sense to upgrade to fmic on that engine is when it's powerful enough to push air thru all that extra piping.
so that car is fun going sideways, evo9 can do same exact thing, why wouldn't u buy it? both cars r basically same in terms of performance, ppl choose based on loyalty to either manufacturer or looks or specific car personality.

I must say that looks incredibly fun and the driver had some skill, but put him in an Evo and he'd do the same thing.

He's whipping the rear end out on a wet track. That's not exactly that hard.

The Evo is a good car, the STi is a good car. This video doesn't make me want me Evo less. It just makes me happy I have one of the 2 coolest cars in the world.

with out him drifting it, he seemed to have the same ol horried understear. Look at that last turn b4 the end of the video.. He was turning for the cars life and almost slid off the track (note it wasnt in a drift).

however, it looked alot tighter than older sti's.. but when I think of subie I think more rally, when I think of evo I think more circuit.

lol all you saw was an sti sliding around the track and you get scared of that like every owner can drive the full potential of an evo or sti sure they might go fast on the track but you gotta remember those are pro's driving them not your average car owner/enthusiast
