THE PERFECT CAR in my opinion

hehe next year lotus is bringing over its lotus elise... some time in my life i plan to purchase this car... and rip the engine out and put a integra type r motor in it... by the way the car does 0-60 in 4.4 sec with a 120 bhp motor... and i will mod the integra motor to 400 hp, wow that will be one fast car... with crazy *** looks and even crazier speed

well the ITR engine would be a likely candidate since the Elise-R is equipped with one. its actually an option by Lotus.

Yeah, the ITR is a fairly common and easily doable swap (most likely). Besides that, it may be beneficial to have something that runs similarly to a bike engine (low tq and peaky, high revs) when driving something as small and light as an Elise.

Last year at the Minneapolis Auto Show Lotus brought in an Elise and thanks to my connections with the local Lotus Owners Club (who provided folks to answer questions about the car) I was able to plant my butt in it.

This is my perfect car.

Interestingly as I was hanging around I noticed in the crowd of gawkers some 18 year-old bimbo and her rich-***** Edina mom. They seemed to think the car was "cute" but were rather appalled that a car without power windows, power locks and AC could cost so much.

Some folks just don't get it.

BTW - I don't like the idea of swapping in one of Honda's torqueless wonder motors. I think it would ruin rather than enhance the car.

I went to the Houston Auto show, one of the Exotic Cars dealers brought the car in and said Lotus will be getting the Elise imported in 2004 I'm not betting all my money on his words.

They have a LHD Elise in the show AND an Austin Martin Vanquish

Well inregard to getting the ITR engine to 400hp , I don't think anyone can achieve the feat WITHOUT going turbo, however, that will seriously lessen the fun of the Elise just my thought

The Lotus Elise looks awesome. I hear it will be here in the U.S around mid 2004. How much will they go for?

Holy ****. That's what we'd call fast. Must've been quite the cram job. Would you know if it retained the Quattro system though?

if im not mistaken the new Elise-R's are equipped with the new Honda K20 motors from the Integra Type-Rs? also the Elise-Rs with the B18C's were rated 180hp. They weren't true typeR motors although they came with red valve covers. the Elise is a very nice car there are two cocky guys here in my area they have their cars serviced at a place called Monoco Motorsports a orange/yellow Elise with a massive aluminum wing and a Silver one with OZ F1 Cups both waste their time cruising the Hollywood blvd and Sunset like losers...lol such a waste of a perfect car. *sigh*

not even by a long shot, honda and acura motors are awesome motors, every one of them, mitsu has only the 4G63, toyota has the 2JZ, and nissan has the SR20-DET, thats it, hondas have all sorts of B16,18,20, K20, H22, spoon motors, S2000, NSX....all have Vtec which is the reason why the elise has the type R motor, its the lightest and fastest motor you can put in that car....

the K20 is the new type R motors from either the civic type R or the RSX type R, i cant remember...i thought the elise motors were type R, but if they were GSR, the reason for the red valve cover must have been to show that they did a block swap with the type R, which is plausible.

CA18DET from Nissan is a lot more interesting since it shares engineering with the V6 from the Z32. The MIVECS are nice but a tad on the overrated side unlike the higher end Honda VTECS which deserve their accord. A MIVEC V6 in an Elise would be very nice since you get a bit more torque with 2 extra cylinders to get yourself going a bit faster off the line.
