Tuner Project advice....

After a lot of condsideration and saving I've decided to go a head and do a project car before summer is completely over. I've mentioned on here before about wanting to do an EVO (1-5) conversion using a colt/mirage if possible. I got semi side tracked with school and finding out that my grandfather went ahead and junked the Talon TSI and got a new car. But now after seeing it can be done on here and in SCC's August issue I'm really interested in doing that kind of swap. I was wondering though would a 4g63 from a Talon TSI with drivetrain, tranny, and so on yeild comparable power to an older EVO?

I'm also looking into doing a rebuild of my Subaru GL which may be interesting... if I can get it to run properly.

Also if I don't go through with this what kind of car would be cheap and easy to make a project car with besides the obvious Honda...

Thanks in advance
Jamievo

I wish I could find an afforable 240 around here... that doesn't need any body work. The subaru is about to get the EA82t swap done and get the rust removed so it may be interesting to see how that goes.

That 2 door mirage with evo conversion would be freakin awesome. That car is so small and light. It would probably fly. I saw one on ebay with a 4g63 turbo (evo 8 engine), and a right hand drive converstion. It was yellow, and looked show quality. It sold for around $20k I believe. It was pretty souped up. I would love to see someone try that conversion and make it successful. I've only seen that one, and I wanted to do it myself, but I don't have the time/money. I'm in college and have to pay for my lancer. Maybe if you do it and make it work, I'll sell my lancer and buy your conversion.

lol that'd be cool, if I could get it to work correctly. In any rate as soon as I find like a 94-97 mirage and the kit it may be a done deal. The Subaru project is pretty much in the bag... engine swap wise. The body still needs some work though.

Do you have pictures anywhere..? That would be cool if you could show us those, but if you don't have a digital camera or a scanner, thats understood.

Here's the pics of the Subaru enginebay. It has the EA82 engine but no turbo(yet). The body needs work but the car is almost as old as I am so it's too be expected. Hopefully soon the rust will be removed, the turbo will be added and so on. I'll post pics of the body as soon as I resize them.
