Think about Ducati, any opinions?

The only thing I know is different from the 05 is the plastic gas tank. Oh, and the $500 price increase. $7499. I couldn't find a leftover 05...
A really good site I go to for info is:
http://www.ducatimonster.org/
For any info on Ducati monsters.

Man I found some nice used monsters on the DML forums but, I've heard that ducatis are high maintaince and I won't know if I'm getting an abused bike or not.
Anyone else care to talk me into another bike, are the japanese 600's really that hard to ride. Think I can find anything decent with $4500?

Well, if you want a Duc you can find some good used ones if you just shop around. They are a bit more maintenance with their desmodronic valve adjustments needing to be done regularly but you can find some garage queens with low miles really easy. It's also easier to tell if a bike has been abused as opposed to a car cuz everything is pretty much out in the open. The 600 supersport bikes aren't really THAT hard to ride....they are just really quick and handle like a razor so for noobs you could find yourself in some trouble if you just try to get on one and go. With some training or an MSF course you could be cool with one of those and for $4500 you could get a pretty nice one at that. I'm also a big SV650 fan myself.....even experienced riders love them because of the versatility and IMHO they look very cool. Best of all for $4500 you could get a 2004 with barely any miles. I guy at my work is selling his 2004 silver SV with an exhaust for $4200 and it only has 1500 miles.
+1 on the SV650. Test drove one yesterday after I purchased my ducati last week.
Definately has a little more power than my 620, but didn't seem to handle as well in the curves. Excellent bike though...

I think I found something in my budget. I currently bidding on a 04 620 dark and hopefully I'll have it come monday. It does have a ding on the gas tank however. Anyone familiar with how much that would cost to fix?
so sirploppy, any plans for exhaust yet? I've been looking for a while now but they're kinda expensive and I really just want to hear the engine more, not some deep bassy sound.
I've been looking really hard at Termignoni or Arrows Carbon cans, but they are so freakin expensive.
If you want just the sound, the best deal is to contact this guy:
http://www.ducatipipemod.com/
After he mods them, they sound great! And, it's helluva lot less expensive than all new. I might go this route...

Exhaust
Get the Remus Carbon Fiber exhaust with High Mounts. I think they are available at ducatimonster.org. I have the exhaust without the high mounts and you'll love them. You might consider after a while dropping a tooth from your rear sprocket (after you start longing for some more power). I got a '03 Monster 620 Dark with tons of carbon fiber.
If this is your first street bike I don't recommend getting that tank fixed unless you have to. It's going to be expensive and you probably will drop the bike. Congrats on the great purchase!

Its simple, if you want the best- buy Ducati, if you want the best balance between quality and price- buy Honda. I own Honda CBR600RR, it is a grate bike very easy to handle and not expensive to maintain (I love ***** and stoppi, so when I fall down its not very expensive), don’t tell me that you a very careful and wont fall down
, then buy a bicycle. Monster is great, but I like super sport bikes better, 748, 749, 999. Thread
