Thinking about trading Evo for Supra...what do you guys think?

. BTW, the evo is a much more funner car to drive. Unless you plan on making 600+rwhp which WILL cost near 9-10grand in turbo/fuel support if you go single and/or make it on stock twins (~500rwhp and have the twins huffing and puffing) itll all end up being $$$. Either way modding cars is a money venture it just comes down to what your goals are.

my goal is to have a top notch all around performance car that addresses all aspects of modifing. i dont have an unlimited budget but it is a good amount like $15-20k (just an estimate, maybe more or little less). if i have a car thats 600hp, i want to make sure i can get that to the ground where it counts and not waste it trying to get traction. thats why im planning on running the cars on drag radials or ultra high performance tires. i have a few more goals, but these are two of the more important ones.

there are quite a few on supraforums.com. some that are very low milege, stock, and garage kept, look like when they were brand new off the lot. this is why i created this thread because there are ones that have been very well kept. if i did go for the supra, i definitely would not buy a highly modified one.
Supras are great for dyno numbers and freeway videos. They will never be as fun to drive as an Evo. I have lots of experience with Supras and respect them for what they can do, however, they are nowhere near as mutli-faceted as your Evo. Just my opinion.

Roadrace/Autox/Street occsasional Drag Strip, stick with Evo. Mainly Highway, get the supra. Try turning a 600+rwhp supra at an Auto-X and then come back with your impression...you will be exhausted as compared to turning an Evo which will tire you a LOT less, trust me. Also, at the same time there is something about a 3500lb coupe with 600ft lbs of torque going 140mph that scares me.
I came from a similar shaped/designed car ('99 Eclipse GSX) and driving the Evo is SO much fun. It is so tossable and feels completely rigid -makes the driver feel totally in control of the car. The Eclipse makes you weary as to where it wants to go and the driver response is lacking esp. from being/feeling so heavy -really tired you out after 15-20minutes of driving. I would never go back to a large bulky car again after having driven/now-owned evo. IMO.

dont get me wrong, i love my evo and everyone is making me love it even more. the supra is an awsome car, but i guess there are good advantages that the evo has.
anyone own or have owned both cars? if so, please post your opinions.

I say stick with your EVO, the Supra is a very nice car, but there are other factors besides straightline acceleration that make the EVO simply amazing. Still I wonder where this myth of Supras not being able to handle came from, not talking about this thread, but I've been reading all over the internet about how Supras can't handle, um yeah they can.

supra has always been one of my faves- depends what you'll use the car for- if you're into track/autox, then a supra will be a bear of a car, and the evo is superior and more precise, but if its not going to be for any competitive purpose, and the occasional street drag or amateur drags, supra will absolutely destroy the evo- there are supras running 600+ whp on stock internals...
I've owned both cars, the supra and the EVO. I have much more experience modding the supra though, so far on the EVO, all I have is a TBE, cam gears and flash.
Since most (if not all) here already know about the EVO, I'll focus on the Supra....
My thoughts, the Supra can be taken to 400 whp with a TBE, intake and boost control, very easy, very reliable and fast (relatively). The only weak links at this power level are...... none. Until you get about 60,000 miles on the turbos and clutch, then those are prone to failure. The rest of the drivetrain is bulletproof. If you're willing to step up to the plate with a turbo kit and all that goes with it, 800 whp is reasonable on stock bottom end. Again, the drivetrain is bulletproof.
Downsides include, traction off the line, no back seat (a dimple to put your a$$ in, but no legroom at all), and that's about it. Handling is not a downside! Neither are brakes. Although, without major suspension work (and an auto tranny), the Supra doesn't shine at the 1/4 mile, but it doesn't take much to make them very fast on a road course.
But most of all, there's something to be said for having a car that can take anything, and I mean anything, (including bikes) on the street from a 30 roll. If you plan on spending a lot of time at the 1/4 mile, the Supra probably isn't the car for you. But if it's a true street car you want, it's the best out there IMO.
