What car is better at 40K?
Id be willing to bet the new skyline will be a overweight pig. If its based on the current G35 chassis. That thing already weighs 3500lbs. Imagine adding another 2 drive wheels and 2 more turbos, with piping. Probably looking at a 3800lb car unless they put it on a serious diet.
some people here obviously arent evo lovers if yall are talkin about muscle cars...
but if i had an opportunity to buy a 50 grand coupe then it would have to be a lotus elise.
i love agile handling

Considering the level of performance you get and the potential it has when you think about upgrades the Evo is a good buy. It's a tough choice, especially if you factor in used cars. My brother-in-law owned a viper. That car was sick to say the least. I think the new skyline is going to be a bit pricey when it makes it's debut.
As for new cars, I'd say Mustang GT.....with about 10k in mods you could have a car that looks good, fast, and handles well. I think Ford will be coming out with some special editions in '07. The cars handle well stock, but put some Bilsteins, springs, wider wheels, and stickier tires on, and they'll handle fantastic. The weight ratio is 53/47. With the other money, you could forge the bottom end and add a blower.....500+ rwhp.
I wouldn't say they're better than a X at 40k because it's a totally different car.

i saw a viper for $42k-$43k on craigslist, so by the time 07 rolls around, you could probably pick up a few vipers.
I would seriously rather consider a z06 or the aforementioned shelby stang, I heard nasty stuff about the dodge srt10's in vipers, and dodge's reliability is weak at best. With the ford, its more of a hit or miss, and the z06 is just godly, cheaper brand new than a viper, out performs the viper even with less horsepower, and apparantly chevy says the '06 z06 evades the gas guzzlers tax

On top of those parts, you could add a blower for 4k and make a reliable 425rwhp on pump gas. Considering the MSRP of 26k for a premium coupe, you could do all this for under 35k.
