The US STi weight is not conform yet, if you read the first post, the U.S STi should be lighter then the Canada ones.

I could see this being true with a 1000 lb driver in the car. Now we know why they changed the JDM Recaros. Maybe next year the Evo will come with Recaro bench seats.

17.5 mpg City / 25.8 mpg Highway

Pretty good for a 2.5L. I'm impressed.

Rumor has it that it'll cost 31K. I'd say it's a great buy since we don't have LSD, ACD. Interesting to see which handles better. Maybe STi is better for once Only time will tell. If it has the spec C suspention or now just known as type RA it'll definitly give us a run.

Is the steering ration on the USDM 15:1 or 13:1 like the type RA?

I think he's talking about steering ratios, not gear ratios.

I'm not one to start rumors but.........

Have any of you peeps heard a rumor that the STi is having trouble passing emissions here in the states and that they may be coming w/290hp or 280hp?

Don't flame me I just read this on another message board but there was no other info on it.

I doubt that.

The are switching to the EJ25 primarily due to smog requirement (at least my guess) and they don't have to compile with the 280hp cap (the JDM gentlemen's agreement limit).

I have read about numerous turbo-EJ25 powered Impreza RS passing smog test in the I-club/NASIOC before...I don't think that would be an issue for that engine at low boost level...

Thanks for the response. I figured someone had to know about it. The story seemed kind suspect! As for the weight of the sti. It hasn't offically been released yet for the U.S. correct? Those figures at the top of this thread are for the Canadian sti? The U.S. spec can't be far off from the Canadian #'s.

Yes, this official weight is for Canada STi, and if you read throught the post, the U.S STi should be lighter then the Canada ones, but it should be very close.
