Agreed -- the M5 is a monster in a straight line

I would love to have one of the new M5's those are soooo sexy.... naturally aspired they can run 12's bone stock without a professional track driver they also have a new 7 speed SMG transmission available as well which has paddle shifters and an electroniclly actuated clutch capable of shifting as fast as formula 1 pro drivers with just a push of a button. The system kicks *** and makes your average-good driver shift like a pro.
Also having an M3 and previously owning an Evo I can say there is MUCH else about the BMW styling/interior/comfort to be considered all performance numbers aside. But Truely the M-class cars have it all

BMW's SMG is still a huge dissappoinment in a 85-90k car. It's better than when it came out several years ago, but it's still leaves a lot to be desired in every day driving quality according to a majority of the car magazines out there.
A "bucking bronco" transmission does not set the benchmark for anything. 500hp is a ton of power, so 0-60 in the low 4's is to be expected for a RWD car.
The lines on the M5 are quite nice, though, and it seems BMW is listening to the heavily criticized body lines and trying to make things look better.

this car is very fast around the road course... The fq400 wasnt that much faster, and this thing is a tank! but seriously for the price you could have a raced out evo and a comfortable daily driver like the new lexus is350.hmmm... the m6 is even better anyway!

Have you ever driven an smg transmission before on any m model car?
The 0-60 numbers and 1/4 numbers are very good for a comfortable, daily driven sports sedan. The real advantage these cars have is the unbelievable speed once you go past 100 mph.
Search google video for some pretty cool vids of this car in action.

Unless you can give me a real WRC Evo
The two cars are not comparable at all in my opinion.
They are in different leagues.
I wonder if they worked out the kinks on the SMG system yet? I've seen a couple of posts on a M3 forum that the car actually stalls once in a while. The SMG system also doesn't shift very smoothly according to that post.
