Would you trade-in for this?
Well slept on it and yeah, I realized that the MS6 just will not compensate for the EVO's all out performance. I'll just stick to my first plan, to wait until the EVO X comes out then decided to weather keep my 8, trade to a 10 or haggle some dealership for a cheap 9. Thanks for talking some sense into me!
If you want to settle down on speed and mod spending, then go for the mazda. Evo mods are endless. The engine has been around for many years and is still gonna be on the evo10. Its basicly follow the tuner life or start heading back to the family sedans.
Great thread - so called competition is what will continue to provide us options. The Mazda is probably a nice car, if you're willing to settle for "Nice." The EVO is not "Nice," you could use a lot of other words (or hyphenated words) to describe it - extreme, built, performance-oriented, rally-inspired, unsaraficing etc...
The EVO is my first japanese car - I bought it because it WASN'T nice - I bought it because Mitsubishi clearly understands performance and clearly understands tuneability (sans their warranty).
Thanks for posting the link - I hope to see more aggressive, but NOT NICE cars posted as well - They make me appreciate my EVO a little more each time and they'll make the auto makers contrinue to strive to provide various markets with options.

If you're looking for a comfy ride and nice interior around that price, both the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT and the IS250 are way better than that Mazda.
The Legacy with a turboback and a flash will easily go as fast as an Evo in terms of power and IMHO the new IS is way sexy.

Growing out of an EVO? So you are going to downgrade to a Mazda 6? There great cars but they are not even in the same class as the EVO. I dont even own a EVO and I think I can say WTF are you thinking. Lets hear some logic on why you are thinking this?

What do you guys think? It definitely wont be as fast as the EVO but it's alot more refined and is actually affordable.

i like the 6 though i think its very nice, infact the only thing i see wrong with it is the fact that its a mazda, i dunno why but ive got something against them unless its a rotary engine for some odd ball reason, i cant explain it

+1, and then some
The legacy gt is where to go if you want comfort over raw performance, with the ability to upgrade serious hardware if you feel the need. Sti brakes/6 speed and other parts will transfer, and most aftermarket sti/wrx bolt ons can be made to work, or will be available for gt specific soon.
One guy is already basically running an sti swap with heavy mods on his gt, very fast, very sleeper. Somewhere I believe north of 400 to the wheels. Just depends on how crazy you want to go.
It's not evo fast, hell it's not "iroc" fast, but it is a low key way to get around town very quickly. Plus, they handle quite nicely with a few tweaks.
I sold my 05 sti, and considered the legacy gt, but wasn't quite ready to go that cushy yet. Plus, no one was swapping parts or modding them too much when I shopped. If I did it over again, I might be in a modded gt right now.
I considered a sleeper LGT, but when I found out you can't replace the stereo, I decided to explore elsewhere. If I were to buy an entry level luxo ride, I wanted to be able to replace the crap stereo and put in my Kenwood Nav - but you cannot (maybe for 06 you can) - What would I do without Sirius?!?! If Soobie makes the LGT slightly more tuner friendly, I think a lot of may people way take that route. There is a LGT that Soobie is considering importing, with a slightly different badge, STi maybe? It's hardcore - I'd consider it... for my gf
Mazda has Ford, Ford had Cosworth - not a bad heritage.
All, if you are real rallyheads, you might appreciate I am getting a ride in a Lancia "Killer Bee" tomorrow! The killer bee launched the sport of rallying and created the need for certain spec races.
Where's all the snow?
