I'm pretty sure he meant the IS350. Having owned the IS350 since November I can tell you that the transmission works quite well. Yes it doesn't give you the kind of connection to a car that a manual transmission does, but it does shift very quick when in sport or normal drive mode. I can agree with some that the manual paddle shifting of the transmission offers absolutely no benefit over just leaving the car in drive. Basically the only time I can see using the manual mode would be on a track where you want to keep the car in a certain gear, such as on a track where you would spend most of the time in 3rd/4th gear and holding it there. I will say one thing about having the automatic is that living in the outer DC area it is a 200% nicer driving experience then driving a manual.

If your interested I did a video of my IS350 instrument guage when I did a 0-84mph run. http://media.putfile.com/0-84-mph Might take a minute or 2 to load.

Here is a dyno chart of gaijin's IS350...he ran a 13.6 at the track in AWD mode...I will try and get my IS350 dynoed on the same dyno that he ran his on to get a comparison.

I test drove the manual 250 and the clutch was the worst thing I had ever felt! It was so sloppy.. I couldnt even tell if i was in gear or what.. Maybe its cause you cant even hear the engine note the car is so quiet.. not sure. I was thinking about trading my evo.. but they wanted 42K for the is350 there!.. it did have the sweet *** wheels on it though. Is the 250 as easy to upgrade as the 350? I mean.. it was really boring to drive but i could see it being fun if it had about 30-50 more whp.. I wonder what dropping the cats and tuning the car would do.

Very nice!
I test drove the IS350 and was impressed with its power and smoothness. I wouldn't mind having one as a daily driver. (and Lexus has the best dealership service around, imo)

Nice....about time a smooth, inline six with an automatic came around again in a sporty chassis to compete against the E46. Last car to come close to this performance in I-6, 4 door form was 10years ago..... the W202 C36 AMG Mercedes('95-'97) which were rated 269-280crank hp. I used to own one lets see an IS350 with some staggered wheels now.

Hehe the wheels are already staggered. 255/40/18 rear and 225/40/18 front also the IS350 isn't an inline 6, but a 3.5 V6.

I just got my IS350 dyno'd today. Here are the results. I also overlaid them with a Stock M3 and my old EVO 8 that I used to have. (turbo back exhaust and WORKS P2)

Also took a little video clip of the car on the dyno.

Would be nice to see a dyno sheet for a 6-speed manual IS250...
