no need to bash . a brutha just wanted to see what was up w/ mazda. DIdnt know if it was like there attempt to compete w/ faster sedans. [i.e sti, evo, legacy]
The Mazdaspeed 6 is NOT competition. It's not even in the same league and it doesn't want to be. It is being compared to the Subaru Legacy, not the STI or Evo. The original poster's comment about the interior is also wrong as magazine editors have stated that it looks and feels cheap inside.
It's a car that isn't sure what it wants to be. It received 4th and only topped the G6 in a recent C&D comparo http://www.caranddriver.com/article....ticle_id=10517 It also recently lost in a comparison to the Legacy GT and there are reports of heatsoak issues and if it's anything like the reg. Mazda 6 will have some other annoyances to go along with that.
Here's what I said on another forum in regards to this car..
"Great, so why buy the car... If it's performance you're after first and foremost you're not going to buy it, if it's amenities you're after you're not going to buy it either. The only people that buy it are going to be people that are already loyal to Mazda and want a sportier sedan than the Mazda 6S. Also, C&D really likes the Mazda 6 so I'm a bit shocked at its 4th place showing."

ModelChris,
The Evo has absolutely nothing to fear from the Mazda whatsover. The Mazda is much heavier car but the internals are not as agressive as the Evo. Despite being a 2.3liter the Mazda has a different compresion ratio and a smaller turbo.
The Evo engine Turbo is the filet mignon of the 4 Cylinder turbos, the Evo turbo is indeed the best turbo overall made for a 4 cylinder car, the Evo heads flow an ungods amount of air, the engine revs like no other, the block is bulletproof, the compr4sion ratio is optimal(high for high reving engine), the injectors are huge, the tubo puts great boost and spools up fast as hell, the fuel pump is larger than the competition, the intercooler is one of the best in size and perhaps it is mounted in the best spot(unlike any other car). Foir good sakes it even come with hollow cams and lightened flywheel
In addition to that, the Evo has the best of the best as far is aluminium parts(aluminium hood and fenders, roof, control arm).
The mazda Turbo AWD is just a "civilize" version of a Evo, the Evo as far as I know is a very evolutionized AWD turbo car by all means.
my .2c

the technical info was sufficient, but I really don't see the point of saying the Evo is an "evolutionized" car... not only is that redundant but you're making up words here....
finally, please stop saying that this is a civilized version of an evo. The entire paragraph before you wrote that goes to stress the fact that these are two completely different cars serving two completely different purposes.
People can't seem to keep their train of thought in a straight line. Maybe all those twisties taken with the Evo have taken their toll???...

How is the EVO not evolutionized or evolved?????? Are you serious???
I like the looks of it, and Mazdas usually are pretty good "drivers" cars. I would consider it if I was in the market for something like the Legacy GT.
Dirrect injection might pose a problem for tuners.

Valid Points made. The EVO is like the ultimate car.lol. That one big paragraph summed up a lot of why it is my dream car - im not saying the mazda is better than the evo - just saying it looooooked like it was competition based on what i read - thats all.

My points are very clear, Mazda couldn't duplicate what Mitsubishi did(Light weight superior car all around) that means better brakes, better handling, better steering and better everything.
I don't need to make things up, the Mazda is simply inferior, there is no way around. Had Mazda made a AWD Turbo car 11 years ago and made 9 different upgrade models from the first version (progresive evolution) and we wouldn't be talking here about this but they just launched a car that is just mediocre, 274HP ouf of a 2.3 litres? However, I don't think I am being fair here because I am focusing more on just the performance aspect .
