Not trying to hate on subies but they DON'T take mods very well and reliability is questionable since both motors blew.
EDIT: stock wrx's put down 160-170 whp on a dynojet
Could not have said it better myself, which is why mine is for sale.

I have a friend who got his car stolen and totaled and insurance is giving him $15k for his '02 WRX, now he is looking at another one with a VF22 and other upgrades, i just don't understand why people try to squeeze the power out of that thing.

You won't regret it bro! All I have to say is make sure you get a IX. Iron block and better internals.......something a wrx will never have.

this website is the "mitsubishi enthusiast network". if you are interested in how many hp some subaru might make, ask the guys on the subaru forums. no big deal, don´t go jumping up on your nose for no reason. and this is no place to be rude. Warrtalon wasn´t. He was just stating the obvious.

I don´t read this site to learn about subaru, those threads get in the way of my search.

also, try and use at least some grammar. u, kno, ganna and em are not even real words. And take note that I am from Iceland.

God no.........saying that a evo(all evo's) is better cause of the iron block. trying to make a point that the aluminum wrx block won't boost high, make power, or last very long with mods.

I dont get it either but then different people want different things. I guess if i just wanted the cheapest power available id go with a SRT. But then id die the time i did anything with the steering wheel other than held it straight so that car wasnt for me. it took a while to figure out an Evo is just what ive been looking for but now i know.... Is there a IX with a Gt37R on it yet? If not there will be before the end of feb.... I hope

Congrats man! The IX is such a blast to drive and takes mods very well. All you need is a catless exhaust and a flash and you will be making well over 300whp all at a minimal cost.....something no wrx can do. Enjoy! I think it takes about $3k to get in the 11's with a IX, that my friend is cheap power.

That's such crap, I don't care how many WRXs you've owned. There are plenty of stage 4 WRX guys with high miles and very few problems, 300ish whp isn't a problem for the WRX. Though 300whp could be a problem if you make a poor turbo choice like a VF30. Also, it's not difficult to get 400whp out of an STI with a green. If you made such lousy numbers with your cars and blew them up I'd be talking to the person that tuned them, not *****ing about Subaru cars not taking mods. Sure, it's easier to get more horsepower out of a Evo than a WRX, but 3k (cheaper used) for stage 4 and you can have a good daily driven WRX making around 300whp, that's really not too bad.

either way, it's inevitable that a person would receive biased (sometimes or maybe a lot of times skewed and untruthful) answers from their respective forums...

point is--who cares. just get a car that you like more and enjoy.

I roger that. That sounds too much WHP for a WRX, I spent anywhere between $6000 and $7000 in engine parts alone on my WRX and only got 280 whp on a Dyno- Dynamic Dyno.

Stock on a Dyno-Dynamic dyno they put around 165-170WHP , this is at Dynocomp(Phoenix)
