Dealer near me is marking up new GTI's $2K. C'mon. But they can't sell the 5 GLI Jettas on the lot which are mechanically identical, albeit heavier.

Yes, I'm planning on chipping it.

Yes I bought. I didn't lease. Never going to do that again.

No EVO's in Canada.

I wouldn't the GTI is slow. It feels WAY faster then my RA with intake/exhaust. That said, its not STI/EVO fast either.

It feels that way due to the torque, but it's not unfortunately. Low 6s due to the DSG shaving time during shifts, 7s with a manual.

Just out of curiousity....how much did they give you?

GTI is nice when it is new, are you planning to keep it beyond the warranty period. If so better have a big check book for repairs. Sorry not a fan of VW, they are essentially the Ford of Germany.

This is the most RIDICULOUS thing i've every heard!! LMAO

Dude, I've owned 2 VW's before, my father has owned 2 and 2 Audi's and I've had a few friends with them.

They are some of the best built cars. BUT, like anything, if you mistreat them or don't take care of them then they will be in the shop alot.

BUT comparing them to ford....man....I should pimp slap you for that. I NEVER had anything major go wrong with either of mine...AND to boot....my 12 year old Jetta (my first car) had more features then my Ralliart! AND IT SAVED MY LIFE!

I've always said, you get what you pay for...but with VW, I'd say its a bargain.

^^ not always the truth, my dad had a VW Passat and he used it for daily driving, not stupid driving, cost us hundreds in repairs, in return we just had to sell it... junk! But you never know, it might just be one car! VW parts do come at a decent price

Moved to Other Cars.

VW's are very hit and miss in regards to quality due to poor quality control. One could be built with awesome reliability, while the next one (same model and year) could be a crap heap.
